While I'd prefer some in-person, at this point they've made the decision and I'd rather they spend the time getting a solid plan in place so that kids will be able to start learning 5 days a week beginning August 31 without a lot of glitches. We can't debate this endlessly. School is starting in a few short weeks and my kids need to have their brains engaged -- unlike in the spring.

OP, this data is not from a survey. This is content analysis of emails/letters send to Maryland's BOE. This is NOT data that can be applied to the general population.

OP, that's just wrong. It wasn't a survey, it wasn't a vote. It's a tally of of the 499 e-mails they received between June 1 and July 20: 205 from parents/family members, 75 from community members, 188 from teachers, 6 from students (SIX!), 25 from "other". Also, they received another 580 e-mails on July 21 and 22 that they haven't tallied yet.

Looks like no one really wanted hybrid. The hybrid plans were obviously trash. Maybe if better hybrid plans had been offered, there would have been more teachers, parents, and students interested in it.

We can't reach that conclusion because it wasn't a survey.

93%?! Oh we're never going back.

I don’t take it that way.

I take it as we have a lot of work to do to convince teachers that they aren’t risking their lives or that of their vulnerable household members. That work needs to start ASAP. And it can’t include insults and threats.

93% of the people that felt strongly enough to send an email. It wasn’t a survey. Most people reach out on their own when they disagree with what’s going on, I bet these messages were sent when it seemed more likely we’d be going back in some fashion.

Specifically, 93% of the 188 teachers who e-mailed the BoE between June 1 and July 20.

Agree 6/1-6/20 hybrid was the main plan which is why hybrid supporters did not feel the need email (1%)

I’m new to this. How do you submit comments? I will be furious if HS is asynchronous. Why can’t teachers do live zoom calls and actually educate our students versus just calling it in?

Get ready to be furious. It’s not happening. You’ll be lucky if your kid has 2 zooms a week.
