No one is pushing for 36 month age groupings. You’re the only one pushing for kids to play up based on grade.

12 months is it. Anyone who wants to play up can if they are able and the club will allow it.

If play downs / holdbacks are allowed they will be potentially 36 months older than the youngest correct grade player.

This is because HS allows players to be held back 2 times.
Fear mongering alert. Going with a 12 month age window for league play solves this, whoops already done.

I have a misaligned August player and hoping they can play on age. But league games don't seem as important as tournaments and showcases. If showcases are going graduation year this will be a challenge for those who are misaligned.

Showcases arent going GY.

Age guy is just trying to start a rumor because he wants older kids to play against younger ones.

Heres why...
1. Once we change to SY almost everyone will be the same grade at games. If August birthdays play with their grade in school team 99.9% of players will be the correct grade.
2. Holdbacks can be up to 36 months older than correct grade in school players. This is because schools allow students to be held back 2x.
3. Showcase results determine playoff seeds. It would be unfair is players not on the team define who the seed against in finals.

FYI, you are the only person on this forum looking to expand beyond the 12 month age window by forcing grade year on some but not all kids.

Pure deflection.

What you really want is to play down 36 month older players against correct grade players.

People see though you.
You are absolutely the only person on here who wants to go grade year. 99% of people are telling you what is happening and the rumors they hear in showcases going graduation year. Posters aren't spearheading a special initiative like you are trying and failing at in trying to force kids to play by grade.

It's a 12 month window in the DC area except for the rare talent playing up and for next year some stickiness to make teams even. None of that is my opinion or wants or needs.

100% this person is anti grad year while at the same time pushing for their own version of grad year that works best for them.
Done deal, no grades for Fall 2026 in DMV. Top teams rostered.

Provide a link to the roster that you're referring to.

Also, its humorous that you've backtracked into not letting Aug birthdays play with their grade as a NVA only thing.

Not the person making this point, but I think it's pretty clear they emphasize this because this is a DCUM forum and they see your trolling as not part of the community. Everyone is tired of arguing with you about other places, where while some clubs have adopted your approach, most examples shared here have been nuanced on how they are doing grade. I think that's why in one thread someone said put up or shut up about what's happening here and why in this thread people like to continue to post the age group. They are all efforts to get you to go away and/or annoy you by not engaging with you directly.

You talk so much and cant even provide the roster link. Sad

No roster link is definitive because it'll only show 1 team, whereas the entire universe of youth soccer sans MLSNext is below. Cheers!

11v11 = U18/U19 = 8/1/2007 + younger (May include Senior/Junior)
11v11 = U17 = 8/1/2009 + younger (May include Senior/Junior/Sophomore)
11v11 = U16 = 8/1/2010 + younger (May include Junior/Sophomore/Freshman)
11v11 = U15 = 8/1/2011 + younger (May include Sophomore/Freshman/8th grade)
11v11 = U14 = 8/1/2012 + younger (May include Freshman/8th grade/7th grade)
11v11 = U13 = 8/1/2013 + younger (May include 8th grade/7th grade/6th grade)
11v11 = U12 = 8/1/2014 + younger (May include 7th grade/6th grade/5th grade)
9v9 = U11 = 8/1/2015 + younger (May include 6th grade/5th grade/4th grade)
9v9 = U10 = 8/1/2016 + younger (May include 5th grade/4th grade/3rd grade)
7v7 = U9 = 8/1/2017 + younger (May include 4th grade/3rd grade/2nd grade
7v7 = U8 = 8/1/2018 + younger (May include 3rd grade/2nd grade/1st grade
4v4 = U7 = 8/1/2019 + younger (May include 2nd/grade/1st grade/kindergarten)
4v4 = U6 = 8/1/2020 + younger (May include 1st grade/kindergarten/Pre-school)

Same thing but less convoluted. Also technically by calling out specific grades you're excluding potential edge cases. No matter how ridiculously unrealistic they might be.

This is for next fall when SY starts.

11v11 = U18/U19 = ≤ 8/1/2007 ≈ Senior
11v11 = U17 = ≤ 8/1/2009 ≈ Junior
11v11 = U16 = ≤ 8/1/2010 ≈ Sophmore
11v11 = U15 = ≤ 8/1/2011 ≈ Freshman
11v11 = U14 = ≤ 8/1/2012 ≈ 8th grade
11v11 = U13 = ≤ 8/1/2013 ≈ 7th grade
9v9/11v11 = U12 = ≤ 8/1/2014 ≈ 6th grade
9v9 = U11 = ≤ 8/1/2015 ≈ 5th grade
9v9 = U10 = ≤ 8/1/2016 ≈ 4th grade
7v7 = U9 = ≤ 8/1/2017 ≈ 3rd grade
7v7 = U8 = ≤ 8/1/2018 ≈ 2nd grade
4v4 = U7 = ≤ 8/1/2019 ≈ 1st grade
4v4 = U6 = ≤ 8/1/2020 ≈ Kindergarten

Using U14 as an example what this is saying is...

1. They play 11v11
2. Players turn 14 after Aug 1
3. Players are younger than or equal to 8/1/2012
4. Players are most likely in 8th grade

Can you be a little more clear about what you're excited about? With an August birthday you potentially have 2 different outcomes depending on when your school starts.

If your school starts Sept 1st this means your Aug birthday kid will be a grade up in school than all the players on the team when we switch from BY to SY. Your kid will go from playing on a team with players a grade older (BY) to a team with players a grade younger (SY).

Most people in this situation will choose to play their kid "up" on the correct grade in school team so they’re no longer misaligned.

More like age guy is trying to allow older players to play down against younger players. Which is against the rules.

Grade guy is following the rules as written and is saying that clubs will do whats in their best interest which is to play Aug birthdays on their correct grade in school teams. This is because it eliminates 8th grade teams with HS players on them. It also makes college recruiting much easier for players and the club because everyone on teams are the same grade in school. All 100% allowed by current rules.

You want charts - FC Delco near Philly posted a detailed tryouts FAQ. The one thing that caught my attention is that current U13 ECNL players born after 7/31 don't have to abide by the "May 1st" club permission required to try out for a new ECNL club

Wrong you're saying that most likely 2009 will be Seniors which is untrue. Most will be Juniors. Some Aug birthdays playing down could be Seniors. This is definitely not the norm though.
