GA / ECNL will we have a season

Start of the season moves closer, college soccer cancelling around us. Will we have a season at all.

Local games based on regional case numbers and phase levels yes.

ECNL (Mid Atlantic) is in trouble with spiking numbers in southern VA as well as NC and SC.

GA Mid Atlantic Conference is in decent shape Covid numbers wise.

NCSL, EDP, CCL, GA will likely get some level of schedule in.

ECNL MD and North will be able to play some but the Mid Atlantic is in a tough spot.

If no GA or ECNL, will those GA and ECNL teams in NoVA and MD finally play each other in a series of friendlies or scrimmages, esp if no high school season?

Mid Atlantic is fine. We already have games set up. Remember there are a lot of teams close.

I think the leagues are giving permission for cross-division games and even out of league games to avoid extreme travel this Fall. MD and VA teams will likely play against one another far more likely than VA vs. NC or SC I would say.

In the Maryland Soccer thread, MoCo issued a cease & desist order to Soccerplex for their 5v5 summer league.

Don’t know if/what this would mean in the coming weeks/months as it relates to 11v11 games in MoCo.
