| Are MD youth teams allowed to play games now? I tried to find a definitive answer in the state guidelines but didn’t see one. I would really appreciate a link to an answer. Thanks! |
As far as I can tell the state allows it, but some counties don't. This release allows youth sports in the state: https://phpa.health.maryland.gov/Documents/2020.06.12.01%20-%20MDH%20Order%20-%20Community%20Recreational%20Leisure%20Cultural%20Sporting%20Gatherings%20and%20Events.pdf Specifically: 2. Youth Sports Gatherings and Events A. All youth sports gatherings and events may resume sporting and other customary operations as of 5:00 P.M. on June 12, 2020 for outdoor activities and 5:00 P.M. on June 19, 2020 for indoor activities. Parents and family may spectate at youth sports gatherings with appropriate social distancing. That said, I believe county rules can take precedence over this so for example Howard Co released this. allowing games, tournaments, etc: https://www.howardcountymd.gov/News/ArticleID/2024/News061620b This article indicates Anne Arundel is the same, as are Queen Anne, Cecil, Hartford counties: https://www.capitalgazette.com/sports/ac-cs-sports-returning-lacrosse-clubs-coronavirus-20200617-3bdiiund6fhgjfirjrxmbcfsx4-story.html But Montgomery Co is not allowing recreational facilities to open yet, Soccerplex is renting fields but games not allowed, so I don't think games are allowed in Moco, can't find anything definitive for PG Co either, and haven't looked in to Baltimore County or City. Hope that helps, though it's not a simple yes/no answer unfortunately. |
| Soccerplex is holding a summer league now. |
| OP: Thanks so much! This is exactly what I was looking for. |
I think you’re wrong. MoCo is not allowing games yet. |
He is not wrong. They are holding 5 vs 5 games league now for select and rec level. Full games are not allowed yet I believe. |
| Bsc (moco) posted return to play guidelines and i think they list games for phase 3. So it also depends on the team and the guidelines of who they are sanctioned with (msysa) |
you can't play 11 v 11 until phase 3. You can play 5 v 5 in phase 2, which is where moco sits. |
|
Phase 3 is not supposed to happen without a vaccine. So a regular fall season is basically out in Montgomery county right?
|
|
MSI sent out a notice saying they are still working on their program but they are considering a modified game. No heading, kick-ins instead of throw ins and other changes.
Realize most people here don't care about MSI but it's a large organization. |
| Man there is a lot of talking of rolling back to phase 1. Virginia is seeing a big up tick. |
VYSA is in phase 3 and Northern VA cases have declined. VA uptick is Hampton Roads. The response will be local. |
Cite? Explain the full Bethesda camps that are ongoing? Vaccine? What vaccine? |
do you have a child in one of those camps? |
Are the bsc camps actually "full camps" my dd starts in a couple weeks but I was assuming no scrimmages. |
