Hi!
Just seeing what fun things everyone found to do with their kids. We have been busy swimming in the lake, camping in the yard, going to the drive in and just wrapped up two nights at a hotel with a pool. What are yo ![]() |
Failing miserably. We are all bored to tears, have nowhere to go and are sick of doing everything in our house. My husband is grumpy and no fun to be around. We did rent a beach house for a week in August.
Ugh I just want this whole thing to be over. |
Tried to go to the beach. It rained for over half the time. We did our best with it. The few times we even thought of trying something like getting ice cream, nobody else seemed to care about social distancing but the people behind the counter. |
what lake |
State parks, hiking, sandy beaches, gardens, wineries, breweries, playgrounds adventures, creek splashing, scooter riding - mostly on weekends.
On weekdays, gymnastic camp, science experiments with the baby sitter, swim lessons. |
So, I’m all for being positive and making the best of the situation, but if you are staying in hotels, sending kids to day camps and having a sitter come, how is that different than any typical summer? We know how to do “that” - it’s putting together a fun summer despite the continued need for Covid precautions that’s a challenge.

+1 but I had to cancel the beach trip because, well, SC sucks at covid control. |
?? where ?? |
Seriously the only lake I would swim in is 8 hrs from DC |
So you have gymnastics open, pools open, playgrounds open, bars open — are you in florida? |
We have been hiking and biking from the beginning. Went to OBX in May and Fenwick the first week of June. Now we are back home. Kids are playing tennis and golf. We are starting to socialize with a few people. Our family went out to eat on Father’s Day and it was lovely. Got to sit at a picnic table in the parking lot. |
With kids? Most of the wineries I follow are not allowing under 21 at this time. The ones that are allowing kids, explicitly state that the kids have to remain right in your area (no "letting the little ones run around.") Are the wineries and breweries fun for your kids? |
We have been going hiking and fishing a lot. Even before school ended, we would go out and get some work done at a picnic bench somewhere. I wasn’t really a big hiker before this, and I have really enjoyed it.
Mostly I have been so impressed with how independent my kids have become, particularly my older elementary schoolers. |
I’m sooooo impressed |
I broke my arm and am dealing with significant symptoms from my chronic auto-immune disorder. Not supremely fabulous for me, but I hope DH and the kids are happy just relaxing and goofing around the house. |
