| Price point is similar. Which is a better car for our family of 5? (3 kids under 10yrs old). Any insight would be great. Thanks! |
| You can’t go wrong either either choice. Both excellent cars - really depends on price and which one better fits your style. |
| Test drive both with the kids/car seats and see what everyone likes best. Just remember kids get bigger so have an adult try the third row. |
| Please search the archives of dcum, this has been answered to death. |
| I’m getting ready to buy my third Highlander. I like the way it looks better than the Pilot, so I never test drove one, but I love my Highlanders. It is so reliable. Never had a breakdown. No crazy garage bills. I get it loaded, with leather seats, seat warmer, etc., so I really enjoy driving it. Probably can’t go wrong with either, but you won’t regret a Highlander. GL |
| Pilot. Highlander is so boring looking. |
| I was choosing between them last fall and I chose Pilot. Because it has Car Android Play and Car Apple Play. You plug in your phone and can see the maps and messages on the screen. Highlander has outdated navigation system that looks like it’s from 90s. |
| Get any of these cars that are 1-2 years old. Excellent in reliability and would hold much better value if you have them slightly used. |
| Some Hondas have transmission issues. |
|
We have had many Toyotas and Hondas.
Honda's have gone down hill. Transmission issues in almost every model. While Toyotas are not perfect they are more reliable at this time. Highlander for me. |
|
I've owned both. In fact I have a T an an H sitting in my driveway right now.
IMHO Hondas are better built. I have never had any problems with a Honda I've owned. |
| I considered both, but ultimately went with the Pilot. I just preferred driving the Pilot, though the Highlander was plenty nice. The Pilot is slightly bigger, and that might matter for your family. |
| The Honda Pilot is a “chick car”. |
| Considered both, and initially thought we'd buy a Highlander since we have had RAV4s for 20yrs. Ended up with the Pilot because the third row is much more viable - I'm amazed at how small and useless the third row was on the Highlander even though the car itself was actually a tiny bit bigger overall. |
| Toyota quality > Honda. |
