I'm very much in Trump country right now (TN) and there's no sanitizer, bleach, etc to be found. Food and other supplies are pretty untouched right now with the exception of rice.

My dad is a janitor in Trump country. He works for a state agency. Told me they were out of hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes. The warehouse they order from is out. The warehouse their warehouse orders from is back ordered until June.

So maybe don’t go visit? I was just at my mom’s independent living place today and they had a sign asking everyone with any respiratory symptoms themselves or in their households to please call or FaceTime instead of coming in,person.

There are a lot of medications made in China. The CDC already knows of a shortage of one, but won’t reveal what it is.

I notice that OTC cold medicine doesn’t seem to be replenished. I think people will want to grab that while they can. I bought OTC allergy medicines as well because my eyes are already itching and it is just March. I take two different OTC allergy meds daily from March to November (that’s hundreds of pills) so I really do need to stock up.

My neighborhood CVS has pulled a lot of packages to the very front of the shelves. As you pass by, the shelves seem full. But if you take a package there’s often nothing behind it or maybe just one more item.

I think the point is just that even though it may be a mere inconvenience for you (the hypothetical sick one), it is more than that for others. So unless everyone is willing to self quarantine at the beginning of a sniffle, to say that one demographic has a good outlook is fairly meaningless.

Guns have come up a couple times in this thread. We don't have any -- but are second guessing that. If we go down that route, what type would dcum recommend? Pistol? Shotgun? (Please assume we would take all necessary training and precautions for whatever firearm we get).
