Unless you are a Native American, screw you; you should go back to yours.

The President of the United States has no business calling any foreign nation a "shithole"!!! For God's sake, people, have you no sense of decency left? These are our allies, our trade partners and the homelands of millions of American citizens.

There is no discussion on this - trump was WRONG.

He was wrong, but that doesn't make it a racist statement. The people calling it a racist statement (cnn,MSNBC,etc.) wonder why people don't see them as being credible. They will literally spend hours obsessing over one comment.

Everyone knows the sentiment behind the words was racist, bigoted, uninformed, you name it: he not only denigrated two places whose citizens are dark-skinned, hd asked why we allow citizens from those countries to immigrate to the US. What is he saying to you about those citizens? I know what I hear.

Just curious--how would you describe countries (NOT the people) from which so many citizens are trying to leave due to the conditions there?

Complicated.

(You do realize that Africa is a huge continent with more than 50 countries right?)

You do realize that Africa's size and number of countries has nothing to do with the PP's question? No reference was made to all the countries of Africa.

Many — millions — came from places that were then derided as poor, savage and uncivilized: the holes of humanity of their time. Immigrants came from dirt poor farms in Ireland; the destitute villages of Sicily; the shtetls and ghettos of Russia, Poland and Germany; the parched fields of Mexico and the Caribbean; the hutongs of China; and the bustees of India.

Immigrants from so many impoverished and deadly places made America rich in all ways. They built America's great cities and industries, factories and schools. They made the American dream come alive in the world. As Margaret Thatcher observed from across the ocean, "Europe was created by history. America was created by philosophy."

Huh? Crotchedy much? Need some coffee this morning? The PP asked how to describe the countries so many people are trying to leave in the context of Trump’s comment about Africa. The PP pointed out that that’s hard to do because there are so many unique countries in Africa. Less-educated people tend to think of Africa as one big homogenous place where people live in mud huts. Lesotho is nothing like Morocco. Madagascar is distinct from Egypt. These countires can’t all be described the same way. It’s just not that easy. Lighten up, Francis.

I guess it would be useless to point out that African immigrants are, on average, more highly educated and more likely to be gainfully employed than native-born Americans, or that immigrants in general are less likely to commit crimes.

+1. Everyone who isn’t deaf blind or dumb can see Trump is a racist by now. Even a former RNC chief michael Steele says it’s obvious.

Of course he's a racist, but that doesn't make it a racist statement. A lot of those countries are shitholes. Why do you think they want to move here? It shouldn't be a surprise, he makes ignorant, drunken frat boy type statements almost daily.

Hey dumbass troll. They are people, not countries.

What now? I’m asking why we want people from shit countries that are falling apart and that no first worlder would live in ever.

They are people not countries. Great people too.

Great people without skills . Don’t we have enough??

Why do you think people from “shithole” countries don’t have skills? Only good for manual labor, eh? Hmmm that sounds familiar.

Oh, Tom Cotton couldn't recall.

Just like how many times they said "I cannot recall" during the Iran Contra testimony.

LMAO!

If he can't recall what was said in a meeting just a few days ago then either he is a.) mentally incompetent to hold political office or b.) he is covering for a racist. Sorry, but there is no c.)

Maybe he stepped out for a potty break?

Defensive much? No one else mentioned "huts," and the response "complicated" was entirely too general for the question that was asked. People don't flee en masse from countries unless there are significant negative reasons for doing so.

So much suffering there. Approximately 100 million people living on $1.00 daily (or less). It's true that those who benefit from oil production live quite well.
