I just hope she's not reading the news or on social media. She should not have to ever see the cruel things people say. Even here, on this website, people are super cruel.

Agree. I guess it's more important that DCUM get website traffic.

Nothing there to tuck.

She's had multiple pregnancies. Even though she's thin, I'm sure she has plenty of loose skin.

Plenty of women don’t have loose skin from pregnancy. Especially if they were young, in shape, and didn’t get stretch marks in stomach.

Yep, and if they have good genetics. Pippa Middleton looks great after having kids and doesn't have any loose skin.

This is one of the dumbest things I've ever read.

All too common these days. Hopefully she uses this as a platform to raise awareness for 15.24 meter parasites.

I mean, that's about the only thing that could legitimately require a 10-14-day hospital stay.

I have a hunch that royals are welcome to stay in the hospital, and pampered there, for much longer than us American plebes. But maybe a Brit who uses private healthcare services across the pond can weigh in.

This is so stupid. Royals can, and have, set up entire hospital suites in their giant palaces and castles. The only reason she's in that long, assuming they're not lying, is because she needs ICU access.

Well sure but in terms of staying after the original crisis I bet that she will stay longer than your typical American could, since we tend to be shooed out of hospitals as soon as possible due to insurance.

Have you ever had a lengthy hospital stay? It's not a hotel. It's uncomfortable, people are constantly waking you, the food is bad, you are at a huge risk for infection. There isn't some secret tier of nice hospital that gets rich people out of this, and even if there was it would be for plastic surgery, not bowel stuff which this clinic specializes in.

Um, yes, yes there is a not so secret tier of nice hospital that gets rich people out of all of that stuff. Sure, they might wake someone for medical reasons to check vitals but I’m sure if Jeff Bezos is in the hospital those checks are all coordinated and done more thoughtfully than the average person.

Ok but the London Clinic 1) isn't that and 2) she could easily have this setup at home.

None of us really knows what is going on, but I (a different PP) am just saying that a non-wealthy American can’t estimate the appropriate length of a hospital stay for a literal princess based on experience in an American hospital using regular old American health insurance. My hospital stay was, all things considered, pretty good (I didn’t have to share a room!) but there is no way I got princess treatment.

Also, I had another abdominal surgery that required just a 5 day stay, and we had our kids stay at their grandparents house because I couldn’t have them messing with my stomach. It takes so long to recover from major abdominal surgery and being with my kids wasn’t a priority because I didn’t want to have to re-start the healing process. Hopefully Kate is getting something laparoscopic though.

DP. But rich people can and do still have the same risk of getting infections like MRSA etc at a hospital that others have. A few years ago rose O’Donnell got really sick from a staph infection she got at one. Kate wouldn’t have to be with her kids because huge house, full-time staff and her kids are not babies. The length of stay isn’t simply fully determined by insurance which everyone understands would not be an issue for her.

Their current home has just 4 bedrooms. Even the nanny had to live out.

They still have the other homes though. She could stay at Kensington Palace and have access to the doctors in London. She is in the hospital because she needs to be.

She could stay at any of the homes the royals own and be cared for by any of the doctors the family has access to. I'm sure the queen had a bunch of medical staff travel with her to Scotland at the end of her life.

Just because she can doesn’t mean she needs to or wants to.

I don’t think it’s Crohn’s because Crohn’s is usually diagnosed in early adulthood, not at age 40+. I want to believe that if Kate had Crohn’s she would make it one of her charity issues instead of keeping it secret. I say this as a Crohn’s sufferer who is trying to bring more awareness to the disease in order to get more funding to find a cure, because right now we are stuck with the best treatment being a massively expensive (for now) and relatively dangerous medication. But of course Crohn’s sufferers have zero obligation to disclose because people are stupidly immature about the disease, and everyone has a right to health privacy.

And yes I know this is highly speculative!

I will add that not all Crohn’s sufferers consistently have diarrhea. I rarely do. My symptoms are abdominal pain and the occasional bowel obstruction. And I look completely fine and always have. Except for one point where I had a perforation Crohn’s has never made me look sick.

I was diagnosed with Crohn’s at age 50. I do not have many symptoms though, so it was not obvious earlier.
If Kate has Crohn’s, we don’t know when she was diagnosed. She may have been diagnosed 20 years ago, but only needs surgery now.

Pretty sure her hospital stay is MUCH different than the average person. Who knows, maybe a whole floor dedicated to BRF.

Jeff usually shuts these threads down but he admitted on his daily summary that website traffic was up due to this thread.

If she has Crohn’s she may have opted for a colostomy. A friend of mine did that and it greatly improved his quality of life.

Oh god no. That would be a last step not a first. I have a family member with a bag and it is awful. She may have had back surgery or something else but why would anyone assume she is getting a colostomy bag. Must be a troll.

If she had Crohns severe enough for a colostomy there is no way she could have been a working royal. She would have to be close to the bathroom all the time.
