Not so long ago, if these teenagers' moms had found out they were bullying a pregnant women, they would have taken a belt to their sorry behinds. |
Not all parents would. That's how we got into this situation... |
There are plenty of cultures that teach teenage boys about chivalry. I'm in NW Europe now and I know if I ever need help with heavy bags or whatnot, a teenage boy will often step forward to offer it. |
Why are you lying about this? No, it's not. A ride code does not entitle you to a specific bike. You always have to unlock a bike, and until you unlock the bike, it's not your bike. It HAS to work this way because otherwise, there would be altercations like this one constantly, because if you could "reserve" a docked bike then people would be fighting over bikes they assume to be available all the time, with other people showing up and saying "no it's my bike." But it doesn't work that way. It's your bike once you've scanned it using the app on your phone. Which this guy had not done until midway through that video, after the woman had sat on the bike. |
Then she decided to ask for help, because her life was in danger./s |
I have two teenage sons. If I saw them acting like this in a video, there would be absolute hell to pay when they got home. I hope we raised them better. What went through these morons minds? Look at us, being all tough and pushing a woman around. |
Yes. But there are many parents who raise their children with no such values. Many cultures who also do the same |
Do you only ask for help when you think your life is endanger? So you can't ask for help if you simply feel outnumbered or feel that something wrong or unjust is happening and want backup? You may only shout for help if someone is about to kill you? It's amazing how every time someone asserts something WRONG about this incident (like that he'd reserved the bike ahead of time, or he'd already paid for it, or whatever) and someone calmly explains, no, the video clearly shows us that this is not what happened, or that's not how bike rentals in NYC work, you always reply with a different argument that has also already been addressed. You are just convinced that this woman has to be wrong no matter how much evidence there is to the contrary. Just unpersuadable. |
Just accept that these people probably hate women, or hate white people, and wont see reason. Once you wake up to that fact you'll stop attempting to argue with them. It is what it is. |
I'd like to believe their mothers still would object. Wouldn't they? |
Pretty sure we can do this without the dog whistle. |
| I no nothing about bike sharing so I have no idea who was right/wrong. I do think it’s very scary though how quick people are ready to take sides and go after people online without knowing the full story. The online public shaming is just gross. I do think there are Karens out there who absolutely take advantage of their privilege. I also think it’s been weaponized by jerks to intimidate women. Women are afraid of speaking up bc it might ruin their careers, etc. |
Doubtful. From the reactions you've seen online, do you really think that? |
Are these reactions coming from mature adult mothers? |
I’m not sure that PP can, actually. |
