I don’t like Trump, but this looks really political.

Well my kid is very conservative. His political leanings do not represent mine. Nor did my political views match my parents. I love that conservatives are so brainwashed that they can’t possibly conceive of someone acting a-political. Trump has a long history of shady business dealings. Trump’s accountant and legal fixer both went to jail for this. You are who you associate with and Trump’s not above the law.

This DA pretty much ran on getting Trump. If you cannot see it as a political hit job, you are wearing blinders.

Yeah, and then he dropped the whole thing.

And then he picked it back up. Of course there's politics involved, given who Trump who is - but given who Trump's business associates are, it's not implausible that there's business fraud involved.

Saying that someone who is/was president is immune from being charged for business fraud before their presidency is an interesting argument but problematic.

Really? I didn't hear that. In fact, all the statements I saw from him during the campaign said he wouldn't pre-judge the Trump case until he saw the evidence. I'm sure you have some cites to back up your claims.

The post you’re responding to is casting aspersions on the judge, not the DA.

Exactly, unless our lord Donald J Trump can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, with zero consequences, it's a flawed system that must be brutally broken apart at whatever cost.

An affair is not illegal. Hush money is not illegal. Lying about it is not illegal. The crime is that he lied about it in an illegal way.

The hush money is illegal if it was campaign donations.

I think this is high risk low reward; because I do not see anyway trump wins a general election.
Trump is a moron; no doubt. Probably is guilty of some business violations. BUT, if the DA does not get felony convictions it will just bolster Trump’s image with supporters and independents.

My guess is Trump will plead out misdemeanor charges and get felony charges dropped. Claim he won so he could still run for president and fix the system; but he couldn’t “save us” from a corrupt judicial system unless he was President.

I feel like trump just feeds off controversy and the democrats keep feeding the beast.

You understand that this is not how justice works? That you can't shrug and say: "Well, what he did was illegal but we're just going to forget about it because he'll find a way to benefit from being indicted and possibly sentenced?".

You realize that with this attitude, you will let him and his ilk get away with anything?!?

Moron, or MAGA. Same thing in the end.

Yeah and 2018, 2020, and 2022 sure show that Dems are playing this ALL wrong, all wrong.

What Rs don't understand is that they love Trump and to everyone else he grows more and more toxic. But they can't seem to quit him. Feeding the beast hurts them.

I guess we'll see how that plays out in 2024. As I always say, I count on nothing. But I don't think that Trump growing stronger with Rs helps his chances with normal people.

So you believe some people should be above the law. Got it.

No one cares about the porn star, but we do care about tax fraud.
