| Can you post a list of forbidden words because it's incredibly annoying to know that you won't be able to post a woman's name, an identified generation, or other innocuous words while the full-on dog-whistling that happens in many threads goes unnoticed. |
| I can't post a list because it changes daily. |
ha! |
So your response was to block me? Wow. Heil Jeff! I won’t be back. |
| Am I the only one totally confused by that exchange? |
Nobody’s going to miss you, buh-bye! |
OP used a word that caused him to be blocked. OP wanted a list of the words that cause people to be blocked. Jeff said no and OP is in a tizzy. |
I don’t know what you are talking about. If you were blocked it wasn’t because of this thread. But, au revoir. |
| Checking the logs, it looks like OP was auto-banned after trying 37 times to post a blocked phrase. I have an automated mechanism that interprets things like that as attempts to spam. |
I got that part, I wasn't clear. I thought blocked words were the "George Carlin words you can't say on TV" words. What phrases and lists are changing daily that people are using? That's what confused me. |
Wow, that's some perseverance!
Or...not being to bright. Half full/half empty. You pick. |
Her concern appears to be two terms that have been commonly — too commonly in my opinion — derogatorily towards posters (particularly women) of a certain age. This is an example of something I mentioned in my AMA. Intuitively, I should be worried that an active user has decided to stop using DCUM. But what I have found is that users like this are a net negative who drive away more traffic than they add. Because being able to insult other posters is her priority, we are better off without her. |
Don't feel bad, pp. I was blocked for attempting to post an apparent forbidden phrase just once. Kind of similar to a "thought crime." |
Seems like a solid plan. |
I’m so curious know what identified generation was banned. |
