Elon is a rising star. It’s currently trying to do the Tulane/Northeastern thing with the rankings. Tbh 10 years from now it will carry more cache so if you care about that stuff, go there. Also, they are trying to ramp up their stuff.

Elon for sure

Furman is a great school. My mom went there as did my aunt and cousin. But it is very southern. If she wants that, great. Beautiful campus, good academics, everyone goes to the football games, which is fun (and dresses up, which is a southern thing).

Elon, definitely.

NP. Furman is more like wealthy Southern prep school kids. Sure, there are some evangelicals on campus, more so than an equivalent school in the north, but that’s just bc the South as more evangelicals in general. There’s nothing specifically about Furman that draws large numbers of evangelicals. As long as your kid is OK with a school that draws heavily from the south and feels very southern, I wouldn’t worry about it.

St. Joe's is a Jesuit school on the edge of Philly, in an area that isn't as fancy as Villanova, but in a nicer area than Penn, La Salle, or Temple.

Basketball fans will definitely have heard of them - the team has done pretty well over the years but has fallen off recently. In a twist to the poster above, your kid would want to be OK with a school that draws heavily from the Philly area and has a lot of kids wearing Eagles hats. They do have a solid reputation in the area.

furman May have changed recently but in late 80s and the early 90s it was very popular with Christians and preacher kids and budding ministers. I think they had a seminary or were affiliated with one.

— grew up in SC and many classmates and preacher kids attended
