Completely irresponsible Runner in Silver Spring!

Anonymous
Was talking a walk with my husband today on the Sligo Creek trail and we were both trying to stay away from others and we were wearing masks.

Yes, there were joggers and bikers but for the most part it was easy to stay out of everyone's way.

Until this one runner went flying, SPRINTING by, "threading the needle" so to speak, yelling at people to get out of her way but refused to slow down. Like she was in a race or something. What the heck? In what world is there a need to be running 6 minute miles these days? What is she even training for? There are no races around. I'm sorry, but social distancing supersedes your training regimen.

Were you and your husband walking side by side? When you do that, you reduce the ability for others to pass you with added distance.

Walk single file next time, OP.

Maybe she had to pee.
Maybe she just got a text that a loved one was heading to the hospital.
Maybe she just got her period and was about to gush blood.

Maybe you need to let this go.

This. If you were walking side by side versus single file, you had it coming.

This,. Everyone has to do their part. You can walk without chatting with your husband.

Yes, this. When multiple people use the same path you need to go single file, just like when hiking in the woods.

I would’ve ‘thread the needle’ too if I saw you both hugging the whole walkway with no more room or oncoming traffic.

Nope. We all need to adapt. No one has the right to barrel through, and a couple side by side is not blocking a path.

Not OP. Sorry guidance is 6 ft. Not 6 inches. Side by side makes them maybe 3 ft wide vs 1.5 ft; runner was STILL supposed to be giving widest berth to them, not threading the needle. And honestly, simply say you are approaching and ASK them to go single file. I have no doubt they would comply, just run in place for a few seconds like those marathoners.

Serious runners, you are going to end up getting shot. Calm the F down and be considerate.

OP, carry a walking stick and hold it horizontal between the two of you. Between that and mask, all these nutso runners will avoid you.
