This armchair CEO garbage isn't going to cover up the fact that a federal government employee publicly threatened to take major punitive action against a private company in order to censor the speech of their employee. Conservatives used to find this scenario appalling and completely against the Constitution.
But Kimmel spread a hurtful lie that he easily could have fact checked, had he stepped out of his bubble. He wasn’t even telling a joke, he was making a political speech.
It wasn’t a lie - the MAGA crowd had been trying desperately to make people believe that the murderer was part of some leftist group starting when Kirk’s body was still warm. That was their number one priority.
Also, this should go without saying but comedians are allowed to make political speeches just like they are allowed to tell jokes in America.

Kimmel was trying to prop up the lie that MAGA killed Kirk. The same lie that the moderator here tried to persuade us to believe, and had to say he was wrong.
He lead in his open monologue that the people on the right doing everything they could to say the shooter wasn’t like them. He was not joking, this was not a joke, he had to know how raw the country was on Monday night, and to use his monologue to spread outright inflammatory discourse like that is unacceptable. To use his medium to confuse and mislead people is unforgivable. He had a battery of writers and producers, and no one flagged it. He and they knew what he was doing and did it anyways because he thought they were untouchable.
Please quote the words the Kimmel used that said that he, Jimmy Kimmel, thought MAGA killed Kirk. Please quote the exact word with which you have a problem.
Kimmel: "We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it. In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving on Friday. The White House flew the flags at half-staff, which got some criticism, but on a human level, you can see how hard the president is taking this."
That is not a lie. That is an accurate observation of what occurred all over the internet. The exact same observation could be made about the left. The other "them". At no point did Kimmel state as a fact the kid was MAGA. At no point did he say that it was MAGA that killed Kimmel. He merely made an observation. An accurate observation.
THe fact that you cite this as a lie is evidence you expect nothing other than obeisance to all things MAGA. Which makes your desires more appropriate for North Korea.
At the time, the evidence suggested the shooter very likely was not a MAGA believer (and evidence released the next day showed that he almost certainly was on the political left).
I think it's fair to say that a lot of people on the left at least understood what it was people on the right were reacting to. It wasn't Kimmel's flat joke about Trump's stages of grief, it was the suggestion that the killer was right wing.
“Kimmel was expressing what we’ve heard some other liberals say in recent days that the motives are unclear and that maybe the suspect in this case was a Republican or was some sort of far right fringe figure. Of course, there has been a lot of discussion about that in recent days. There’s a lot of evidence pointing in other directions about the suspect, but Kimmel was on the air talking about this, making a very serious commentary amid his jokes in his monologue Monday night.” Brian Stelter, CNN
I think that it is fair to say that people on the left who heard that joke thought it was a joke about what had happened (not to Kirk) in the MAGAsphere on the 10th. And go look at right-wing luminaries on twitter in the 10th after Kirk got shot. Laura Loomer within minutes was screaming about Islamic terrorism. That's just one example. There are dozens of influencers who similarly tried to point the finger at various groups.
What Kimmel said was a 100% accurate observation as to what was happening on the 10th. 100%. Would it have been MORE complete to say the left was doing the same thing? Absolutely. The left was instantly on the fact that it was Utah, MAGA territory, his father, guns in the house, etc.
By the logic you seem to endorse for his suspension, every single talking head out there should be out of a job. Every single influencer and poster on DCUM. Every one on Reddit, etc. That's what people do. They make guesses, make observations and draw conclusions and more often than not they are wrong.
Kimmel could have made an actual joke about how neither side (left/right) wanted the shooter to be aligned with their political party.
Did he mention the left? Noooo. Only MAGA. Why didn’t he mention the left?
Because Kimmel is a democrat and only tells jokes about republicans.
+1 and 70 million voters are sick of it, so his ratings fell.

Kimmel's suspension has cost Disney over $3 billion. I'd say one of them is more impactful at the moment.
The outrage over his comments betrays an ignorant populace, both willfully and objectively. MAGA lacks intellectual curiosity and thinks it can somehow supplement with moral superiority, which it doesn't actually have. It's a weird thing to observe from the outside. If interpreting Kimmel's commentary was an SAT question, most would fail.
It's obvious that your feelings of moral superiority are intact! (Gag!)
pp is talking out their bum about Disney losing money. It’s possible but:
A company doesn't lose money when it's stock value changes. The investors who own it lose potential value if they sell now versus prior. But most people can just hold onto the stocks and wait for it to go back up.
As for actual revenue loss, that's hard to know until Disney releases quarterly reports.
It’s ironic pp is talking about people not knowing what they are talking about, as they don’t know what they are talking about.

Disney, like Target, has betrayed a substantial portion of its public supporters for doing something that seemed anathema to their principles. Target is still paying the price.

Are you seriously saying that Republicans actually care what Jimmy Kimmel says on a late night show? Like they got butthurt and took it personally and somehow as non-viewers that hurt his ratings? So much conflation of being offended, not liking an individual and completely losing sight of the principles at stake. Who cares what his politics are?

Kimmel's suspension has cost Disney over $3 billion. I'd say one of them is more impactful at the moment.
The outrage over his comments betrays an ignorant populace, both willfully and objectively. MAGA lacks intellectual curiosity and thinks it can somehow supplement with moral superiority, which it doesn't actually have. It's a weird thing to observe from the outside. If interpreting Kimmel's commentary was an SAT question, most would fail.
A company doesn't lose money when it's stock value changes. The investors who own it lose potential value if they sell now versus prior. But most people can just hold onto the stocks and wait for it to go back up.
As for actual revenue loss, that's hard to know until Disney releases quarterly reports.
If you want to be that precise, then $3 billion in market capitalization. We will see how this hits down the road, but so far, the response is much stronger than I would have guessed. Disney, like Target, has betrayed a substantial portion of its public supporters for doing something that seemed anathema to their principles. Target is still paying the price.
Unverified Information: It is important to note that information circulating on social media may not always be accurate or fully verifiable. Always cross-reference figures with financial news outlets, such as those from the financial industry.
Given the conflicting figures and the nature of market fluctuations, a precise $3 billion figure for Disney's market capitalization loss from the Jimmy Kimmel incident on September 20, 2025, cannot be confirmed by multiple, consistent sources.

I'm saying that viewers don't want totally partisan humor. It's suppised to be entertainment. That's why Johnny Carson was so beloved.

Kimmel could have made an actual joke about how neither side (left/right) wanted the shooter to be aligned with their political party.
Did he mention the left? Noooo. Only MAGA. Why didn’t he mention the left?
Because Kimmel is a democrat and only tells jokes about republicans.
And that is why his ratings suck. There is so much material on the left he could take advantage of.
Greg Gutfeld is able to tell jokes on both sides even though he is supposedly conservative. His ratings are great.
The truth emerges. MAGA is butthurt.
Too bad.
So sad.
lol
Gutfeld is still airing.
Kimmel isn’t.
Who is butthurt???
DP, never heard of Gutfeld.
Great work with ChatGPT! Why does this scare you so much? Disney is taking a hit on this, no question. Will it last? Time will tell.

Based on his comments, he could easily have been fired for cause.
What —exactly— about his comments would easily support “cause”? Yes, I’ve heard the comments and read multiple opinions about them.
looking at his ratings? Poor performance.
+1 and 70 million voters are sick of it, so his ratings fell.
I'm saying that viewers don't want totally partisan humor. It's suppised to be entertainment. That's why Johnny Carson was so beloved.
I want intelligent, astute commentary. Jimmy Kimmel provides that. Political satire IS a form of entertainment. I love how you all are trying to rewrite what late night hosts can say after all these years, but Jesse Waters can act like a reporter and spew partisan vitriol night after night. Come on....

I don't need my political views confirmed - I am capable of critical thinking and evaluating issues. Do you not realize that there are Americans that enjoy certain political satirists, but are still able to scrutinize them as they go along, and at times strongly disagree with them? Jon Stewart definitely rubs me the wrong way at times, but in other cases he is brilliant. I am not some binary monolith looking to be fed liberal talking points. And Guillermo doing some schtick at the Emmy's with back to back mirrors has nothing to do with my politics. It's hilarious. You all have NO IDEA how sensitive you sound, like you are so offended that people enjoy blowing off steam about the absurdity of MAGA. This is nothing new. Jimmy's comments on Monday went to the heart of the issue and were spot on. That folks on the right think he said the killer was MAGA just shows how little reading comprehension exists in this country.
