About 30 2012s and 40-50 2010s. Mostly FCV, but 25-30% from other clubs (guesstimate, I didn’t count). One group of 5 or 6 non-FCV 2012s seemed to come as a group.

Interesting. Did they announce that before tryouts started or at tryouts or what? I'm still surprised that field space doesn't seem to have been their 1st, 2nd and 3rd priorities the instant that they learned of Evergreen being sold.

Well, all things considered, that sounds pretty decent.

There were a bunch of coaches on the fields. AB said DR (former second team coach) would coach the 2012s and BC (new GA director) would coach the 2010s. Both were there. Not sure who the other coaches were.

Style of play? LOL

Bobby has never played soccer. Ever. He's good a facebook tho.

You're signed up at the wrong place. Look up the contact for South coaches if you don't want to be in loudoun. The South teams are on FFX.

Not every age group has a Fairfax option (speaking as a parent who lives near TSJ and checked it out, but no go).

True and very confusing for the club to be honest.

Flagship location is Springfield, but soccer footprint is everywhere, and GA programming is in Loudoun. Not sure how you really ever build quality teams from the inside like that. Very confusing.

If “flagship” is intended to suggest primary, that’s not right. FCV has always been a Loudoun-based club. That’s where all the GA teams are. TSJ is trying to grow the program in Fairfax and has built some good girls teams in the early years (2014 and below), but they practice at places like George Mason, not TSJ’s flagship facility in Springfield.

My friend told me Adam told parents of younger players to be happy with having fields for the spring at revolution and Hanson when questioned about field space because the South girls share a third of a field for all the 2014 South teams. This was a selling point while trying to get parents not to leave North teams. It's crazy the stories you hear about the guy.

Who has the other 2/3rds of the field?

He’s spoken about this partner several times at parent meetings held while ID sessions were under way. If it’s real, it seems to be a true solution (resurface one existing grass field, build two new grass fields, and build one turf field). Hopefully like most business deals it’s just taking longer than they’d like, but until they go public there’s a real credibility issue.

Not sure about the 2012s, but the 2010 group looked solid (quantity and quality). Of course, just because they’re there tonight doesn’t mean they’ll be there next season.

Wonder how many 08s they had show up? I was told that "the entire 08 team had agreed to move to Revolution". Seems unlikely but that's what I was told. And 07 should be interesting, as well, given that a good number of them will have already committed to play in college (or will soon) with the younger 07s starting that crucial recruiting year very soon.

FCV hired DR full time and he quit his day job. Brings to mind statement of "Don't quit your day job.". FCV is investing in DR as their future to run the GA program.

PPs have been negative about him, but without any specificity on why. His bio is impressive for his age. My guess is that he’s taking more risk with FCV than FCV is taking with him.

PPs are negative about him because they've seen his coaching decisions. GA1 players are in for a big surprise as to how badly this person coaches. Entire teams are leaving because of the decision to make him the coach.

The 2012 group that showed up in a pack was probably McBryc

What sorts of decisions?

I don’t know the guy and I’ve never seen him coach, but on it’s face this is just a stupid response. He’s coaching the 2012 GA team next year, which is the new / entry GA level. There is absolutely no chance that existing GA players, who have not had him as a coach in the past (because he has coached second teams thus far) and will not have him as a coach next year (because he is not coaching returning GA players), are leaving en masse because his is coaching the GA newbies.
