Does anybody think Dom is remotely qualified for all of this?

Of course not.

Where are the fields?

Just to be clear....DR is not a new hire. He's an existing coach at FCV. The new hires fell through, so they are scrambling.....

You're signed up at the wrong place. Look up the contact for South coaches if you don't want to be in loudoun. The South teams are on FFX.

Not every age group has a Fairfax option (speaking as a parent who lives near TSJ and checked it out, but no go).

True and very confusing for the club to be honest.

Flagship location is Springfield, but soccer footprint is everywhere, and GA programming is in Loudoun. Not sure how you really ever build quality teams from the inside like that. Very confusing.

24 hours until ID sessions and still nothing from FCV on fields or Bastien’s coaching staff (beyond DR’s promotion).

If “flagship” is intended to suggest primary, that’s not right. FCV has always been a Loudoun-based club. That’s where all the GA teams are. TSJ is trying to grow the program in Fairfax and has built some good girls teams in the early years (2014 and below), but they practice at places like George Mason, not TSJ’s flagship facility in Springfield.

My friend told me Adam told parents of younger players to be happy with having fields for the spring at revolution and Hanson when questioned about field space because the South girls share a third of a field for all the 2014 South teams. This was a selling point while trying to get parents not to leave North teams. It's crazy the stories you hear about the guy.

Their website is a mess. TSJ website has some info, then FCV has a different website. Broken links, old coaches still listed, last years ID session info. Are we to take this club seriously?

The website is terrible and super frustrating, but I’d pick a club based on things like coaches and facilities, not a website. Wait, FCV doesn’t have those either.

Does anyone know what league the GA clubs (FCV, SYC, and VRSC) will play in for their U11 and U12 teams? I believe the top U11 and U12 teams for NOVA clubs play in VPSL, which apparently is connected in some way to ECNL. I understand FCV’s top U11 and U12 teams also used to play in this league, but last year the league stopped allowing FCV to participate supposedly because it is a GA club and they are an ECNL-related league. So, this year FCV’s U11 and U12 top teams are in NCSL where they are playing the NOVA clubs’ second teams. Based on NCSL’s standings for the fall, that appears to have been a bit of a mismatch. If that’s all correct, won’t VRSC and SYC also have the same issue beginning next season? Did SYC just get their U11 and U12 first teams kicked out of the top league in NOVA for those two years?

VPSL = ECNL-RL (in VA, obviously). I can't tell you what league the < U13 GA teams play in but I'm guessing EDP.

FCV never participated in VPSL/RL around here directly. Last few seasons when Villareal fielded girls teams, FCV had a partnership with them and sometimes they would fill those teams with FCV squads. FCV and VRSC will likely continue what they have been doing which is play NCSL and sometimes at U12 in the spring they will enter them into a lower division of U13. SYC I would bet puts teams into EDP.

Either way I wouldn't read too much into what league clubs will put their second teams into, what matters is how those teams are managed on the field when match day hits. If they're in too low level of a league, is the coach having the team play in a way that reinforces what they do in training while having success?

Anonymous wrote:Former FCV parent whose daughter played for BP & CC.

So BP & CC get to spread the toxic culture they created to two new clubs? Thank god our current club didn't hire them.

Some loved it there, some hated it, just like every club. I know several who used to love it, and over the years they soured on those two. The environment they created at FCV was great if you were "in" with them, you get injured or fall out, and the tone changes quickly. Not to mention the dynamics they fostered among the players. None of it was worth it for a teenage kid's mental wellness and confidence.

We watched our daughter and several others blossom as players after they left that program. We know several families still with FCV; and even before this, at least a few planned to move on next season. Some have been practicing with other clubs when they have a day off from FCV. Not because BP & CC were leaving, but to move on from them. There is a core group that will follow those two, and if they pull enough, they can have a decent team. But no way they are pulling a full team.

Not everyone is chasing a D-1 scholarship. And not every kid who is chasing one will get one. Never cared about the GA vs. ECNL argument, it is amazing to see the "discussions" here on that front. To some of us, having our kids develop and get to play and enjoy a game that they love at a high(er) level is enough. Then let the chips fall where they may.

They may win more games, but good luck to Revolution and VDA and the players there, you are going to need it.

Some people who have been who for years will recognize the penmanship of this post. Same guy that has conspiracy theories about a US Scout and BP. A well known FCV and BP hater on forums. Enjoy!

Hahaha! It is awesome that you think my penmanship resembles this other person (hopefully, that is a compliment), but that was the 1st time I had ever posted to this message board! This is now the 2nd.

I have no idea what you mean by anything related to a US Scout and BP - obviously, I wasn't a fan of him based on our interactions (or lack thereof at times) - but love that there is some crazy conspiracy theory!

This morning I ran into someone in the real world (reading through here, doing so might be a foreign concept to some of you), who mentioned the craziness here continues to ramp so I figured I would come back to check it out. That decision was a complete time sinkhole...

My previous post was based on firsthand experiences with FCV (particularly our interactions with FCV leadership) and what other current parents told me directly. While I clearly have a bias based on our experience and in retrospect probably did enjoy the carnage a bit too much in my post, it is only one perspective. I thought I was potentially being helpful to others by relaying it. Clearly, after reading more, I forgot what a sesspool message boards like this can be. There is a sport here of just bashing other clubs - and by extension, often essentially calling out the kids on some of those clubs. Some of you need to get a grip.

As frustrating as our time at FCV was, it does not consume us and we moved on. Our daughter joined a club that has been a great experience, is a great fit for her, and she has excelled - a club many of you also trash for reasons that I can categorically tell you are not true in our experience (again, that is only our experience - and no, I'm not going to say the club - why don't I just tell you my daughter's name rhymes with XYZ?). It is a testament to how varied experiences can be and a reminder not to take broad generalizations at face value.

I can't believe how crazy/angry some of you are. Please get out into the real world. It is a nice day out, go take a walk.

Curious to hear how the turnout for FCV's tryouts at Hanson this evening is especially in light of them not having given (to the best of my knowledge) a definitive answer wrt field space for next year. Will people be willing to gamble on that working out in an acceptable way?

AB said tonight field layout for location in Ashburn is done and they are waiting for partner to sign MOU so they can announce partner / location. Hoped they would have it today, but expect no later than end of week. Sounds great if he hadn’t said more or less the same thing two weeks ago.
