Hiking in Shenandhoah

Outdoor exercise, such as hiking, is considered essential activity as per Hogan's order. So, I am still within my rights to drive to Shenandoah this weekend to hike, right? Not interested in personal opinions on whether I should, only whether this is permitted within this order. Thoughts?

I would make sure the park is still open. I know they’d already closed all the buildings (including the restrooms) and many of the most popular trails.
You could also look into any state parks that are open and closer. I think transporting yourself to Shenandoah, getting fuel etc would be violating the spirit if not the letter of the order. But, I hear you and I am also going insane at home watching our bank account drain.

Climb the stairs in your house for a few hours.

So Hogan said at his press conference today if you leave the state of Maryland and come back you have to isolate for 14 days. It is not essential for you to drive hours to the Shenandoah Valley.

I also believe Shenandoah National Park is closed.

Please stay in Maryland.

Did you know that Shenandoah is not in Maryland?

I would like to know this too. If we can drive to a spot within Maryland and hike trails. Or if it just means walking/hiking around the area where you live.

Go to Western Maryland. Plenty of remote places to
Hike

Just don't touch a gas pump or the restroom door handle or anything. Thanks.

There's a trail before the entrance to the park.

Afraid you’d catch some common sense or coping skills?

OP, the order does not cover Shenandoah because Shenandoah National Park is not in Maryland. Save yourself a lot of time and effort and find a safe place to hike in Maryland.

In Virginia parking lots for all parks are closed. You can still use trails if you can walk or bike there. Per the order:

As per Governor Ralph Northam’s Stay at Home Order, issued today and effective immediately, do not drive to our parks. If you live close enough to walk or ride a bike you may access the trails, but there is no parking
