People were obsessed with visiting the parks and as a result of the closed facilities, peed and pooped all over the parks? |

Yes. There were articles describing human feces next to trails, and I saw several articles about how some bathrooms and port a potties were technically open but there was no staff on duty so bathrooms were full of feces in broken toilets, garbage piled up and overflowing, garbage on trails and by roads, etc. Stay. Home. |

It DOES NOT mean “act like every day is a weekend”, where you get to go do fun stuff that you don’t normally do. IT MEANS STAY IN YOUR F’ING HOUSE!!! If I were in charge of the police, I would issue standing orders to give people like you beat downs with sticks and rubber hoses the first time you were caught outside your house. Yes, it's fine. But you need to pay close attention the park FB page: many access points and trail heads are closed. Pick a less travelled trail.
You also will need to go to the bathroom outside; do not stop at a public restroom. And you need to pack your own food and water. |

I've been using their Instagram page to keep updated on what trails have been closed. So far, they've shut down all the really popular ones (such as Old Rag and White Oak Canyon) and others in accordance with various counties and their individual closures. However, there are still trails open! It's important to be a responsible citizen and not go on a trail if the parking lot is crowded. I drove to Crabtree Falls the other day and the parking lot was packed - I turned around and found somewhere else to go.
The governor of VA said that you can leave the house for fresh air and exercise, so I would assume that Shenandoah is fine. Avoid stopping at stores or other public places along the way. |

This is the hard part. Be aware, OP, it is difficult to pack that much food for the day away and also not use the bathroom. |
