PSA - There is a stimulous calculator on the Washington Post Site

That may answer a lot of questions people have if they qualify.

FWIW, I confirmed we will not and I am fine with that we are a two fed family with secure jobs that can be done remotely. I thank that is correct.

Does the calculator include 2020 info to tell you if you have to pay it back?

Thanks. It doesn’t include an estimate for 2020. If they had that they could tell you that you will get X but will pay back Y or that you got under the amount and will get a larger refund when filing next year.

WT? As HOH I get 20% of what a married couple would get. Put another way, married gets 5 times more relief.

And NO - I don't get child support or any other support.

You get the same $1,200 for each adult as a married couple or single person + $500 for each dependent. The income threshold increases from a single person. That’s the only difference. Why would you get more than $1,200 for yourself?

Do college students who had income but were declared dependent by their parents get any?

This is to figure out how much of a check you'll get now, in 2020. The amount is based on your 2018 income, as reported on your tax return.

From what I’m seeing, no. The parents will get $500 and the dependent gets nothing. If the college student was a dependent in 2019 but not 2020 the. The parent will get $500 from the advanced payment then have to repay it in 2020 and the dependent will receive an extra $1,000 refund on their taxes because they never received the advanced payment they were eligible for.

What if you’re married but filed separately?

I am head of household as a single parent. Not sure who else it applies to.

Should be per household. Penalizes single parents who get $0 while making the same income as a childless married couple or family with one earner making the same or more. In both situations there is just one earner. How does that make sense?

Uh, because there are two adults in the family instead of one.
