DC getting massively shortchanged in coronavirus bill by R Sens. DC needs to be a state.

If you live in DC, your kids are getting screwed by this.

DC govt will take tax money away from public schools, from kids, from health services, to make up this shortfall.

$750M removed from DC that we would have gotten if it was a state.

As someone who fights for more funding for DCPS schools, I am outraged.

$750 million? That has to come from somewhere else in te DC budget.

At least Chris Van Hollen is sticking up for DC citizens.

So stupid. I’m sick of DC residents complaining about everything. DC will never be a state. This is a self-inflicted wound. You chose to live there and you continue to choose to live there. The best DC can hope for is retrocession by Maryland. Outside of that, you know you aren’t treated the same as a state and if you want that same treatment move to Maryland or DC. It’s as simple as that.

Oh learned something new. I had always thought that we were supposed to be 'New Columbia'. I did not realize that we had voted and changed our future state name to 'State of Washington, Douglass Commonwealth'.

I am not even sure what Douglass Commonwealth is really.

Move to Maryland or Virginia - not DC obviously.

We are the Nation's Capital. Statehood or not, our city should not be treated worse than the rest of the country. The republican house and senate members us as their litter box. If all the residents of DC took your very helpful idea of moving to MD or VA, the poor congressmen would have no restaurants in which to hold their fundraisers with lobbyists and dry cleaners for their fancy suits and cleaners for their offices and pied a terres.

This is truly outrageous, immoral, and frankly should be criminal.

Can you imagine France specifically excluding Paris from Covid relief? Or the UK specifically excluding London?

Is this what happened to Rome?

This is so *@&$(), especially since many of these lawmakers have homes here. Any way to provide feedback or consequences?

DC is a Federal District. Get used to it FFS. We have plenty of restaurants and dry cleaners in MD and VA.

Want to live in a state, pick one. There's 50 to choose from.
