If you’re looking for a riveting read, read this story. It made my jaw drop. I’m not in academia but I have many friends who are and going to these lengths (filing false Title IX allegations) to take out job competition is just, wow.

If curious, this Twitter user figured out who “J” is in the article: https://mobile.twitter.com/chick_in_kiev/status/1240497113177391104 |
I read the piece. It is a twist on how Orwellian university justice systems can be. What an awful human being that guy is - good on the Twitter mob for naming and shaming him. |
This is also a really well-written story- not shocking since the writer is a professor in creative non-fiction. I couldn’t stop reading. |
didn't really need an image of licking barbecue off our fingers, but overall, a sobering story. |
kid: i want to get an advanced degree in creative writing.
parents: no!!!! |
Dr.Duane Gilson - may he never work again in academia. |
Fry in hell, buddy. This is crazy. |
This was a terrifying story. And so well written. |
OMG. This story is completely bonkers. |
Yes, I read the NYT piece yesterday & was riveted. TY so much for whoever posted the outing! I am not typically a huge fan of doxxing but man, what an evil bastard. |
Not surprised by the scenario (which was described in a somewhat long-winded way as the NYT is wont to do). This happens far more often than people think, but may be kept quiet for various reasons, not the least of which is expensive litigation down the road. |
It would be a much better article without the diversions of what she did with her children and spouse.
Crazy fact pattern though. |
Guess someone really, really, really, REALLY, wanted a job in Ann Arbor. |
Strongly agree on both counts. As an academic who did the job market experience pretty recently, I felt chilled by what happened to this couple. Awful, seriously twisted stuff. |
