WHO has said that wide-scale testing and contact tracing are THE most important prevention measure (in addition to social distancing obviously).
From their freshly updated website, DC tested ONLY 6 people on March 16, 2020. Testing numbers have gone from 120 people tested to 126 since testing started. Yet Mayor Bowser said 2 Sundays ago they have the capacity to test 50 people a day. What on earth??? |
| Who knows? The DC Coronavirus site is useless. Lack of information about what's happening now and how they are preparing. |
They can not test because the federal government did not order enough tests. There is no availablity. DC can not p ull them out of a manic box. |
|
Because tests are being rationed. We don't have enough tests. We didn't start preparing soon enough.
See: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/865677.page In many threads people are asking why the testing criteria are so ridiculously strict. There is a simple answer: there are not enough tests. So tests are being rationed. Only those who are at the absolute highest risk are being tested. |
|
Not enough reagents for all the multiple steps involved in testing, as I explained last night on another thread. |
|
Only 50 people a day(!)
This is concerning for everyone worldwide if the US doesn't clearly indicate the true situation over here |

Thermo Fisher ships coronavirus tests, aims to produce 5 million tests a week by April
https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/16/thermo-fisher-ships-coronavirus-tests-aims-to-make-5-million-per-week.html |
| They are probably saving them for the more serious situations to know how to best treat them. 50 a day is nothing. |
| The Mayor said 2 weeks ago they could test 50 people a day. Dont the test kits.come with the reagents? Why just 6 yesterday? If WHO is saying test and contact trace to flatten the curve, what would you hoard them for?? |
| Because it’s dc. Always been a shithole. |
|
There aren't enough: 1. Reagents for other steps in the testing process, aside from the "test kits" . Politico reported on this last week. 2. Personnel to do the work in the labs. |
Then why did Bowser claim they coukd do 50 tests a day, and what is the real number. Six? Does she know? |
| I saw the long line for the drive-up test now available -- I don't understand, are that many people having symptoms or just being paranoid and selfish? |
| Not enough test kits. |
They have symptoms. Why the hell would you expose yourself to the testing site where sick are gathering unless you have real reason to need to know. |
