USA sellers scamming about their products

I’m renovating a house and I’m ordering things lefts and right . I wanted a marble fireplace mantel 12 feet high and when I was quoted $19k here in the states I decided to go to online China company and order it there. I not only ordered the custom marble fireplace, I ended up ordering a marble 8’ fountain, marble seating area, marble bench, marble statue all for 15k! It’s actually coming into port next week for a total of 9 weeks shipping time. But I decided to bite the bullet and get my custom copper hood here in the states and pay $$$. I saw them in China too for so much less but decided on the home territory. Anyhoo, the copper hood is taking almost 14 weeks with delays from company. It finally hit me that this damn hood is being made in China! I asked the company and they confirmed. They used terms like, we source our products from artisans around the world . Ugh such BS . I could’ve ordered the damn hood myself at a fraction of the price . Meanwhile I did the same with my iron custom front entrance door which is taking forever as well. Again, I paid a arm and leg for it and guarantee it’s being made in China and I’m just paying this middle man who acted like he had a factory here in the states. Are there even companies in the states that fabricate these type of intricate custom items? Or is everything made in China!!! PS I’m thinking about getting into this business myself! It seems all you need is a computer, a great website and a few car salesmen type employees.

Yeah, seen the news recently? Nothing is going to be shipped to you from China. Nothing will be here in 9 weeks.

Ah, so you got lucky and this stuff shipped out before China's ports were basically shut down. I misread.

Really? So maybe I should cancel the copper hood I ordered?

Not necessarily, but I bet you the delay is directly related to the COVID-19 shut down. No telling how long the government will freeze supply chains there. I'm sure you'll get it eventually but there's going to be some uncertainty and could be more delays

Yes the company certainly isn’t acting like this has anything to do with China shipping ports. They make it seem like their “factory” is having delays. Such dishonesty imo.

Yes but I do know that the EXACT items are being sold in a design gallery not far from me of course at quadruple the price. And I know they are getting it from overseas too. I don’t think there are any artisans left here in the USA .

Don't you know that most marble is imported? There are a few sources in the US, but for carrara, Italy the superior source.
