Arlington girls DA ID session

So what is going with the 08’s? The email was kind of interesting. They were to make decisions this week but that has now been delay. They will evaluate players from the ID sessions at ASIST and Jeff cup. This includes players from outside the club. Guess they are still shopping?

It’s DA, OP. They should be casting a wide net or then it’s just Arlington Soccer with DA only in name.

Why do you think ASA players should be entitled to spots for something that should be solely merit based? I know in US soccer most is political—but still I would expect them to look outside—it’s the job of anyone with “da”.

This is why parents should only care about their kid’s individual development U9-u12 and not the most winning teams or big names.

50% or more of red U12 will be in U13 DA team for the next season. Applied to Arlington Soccer for multiple seasons and for Boys and Girls. FACT

When they first started DA at ASA, Director took a lot of sh*t for not having many ASA players on DA teams. So---the coming years they went the opposite direction and pulled almost exclusively from ASA. Parents wanted to believe it showed player development was sound and by not taking ASA players they felt it didn't demonstrate such. Then, mixed results. Boys 2004 was almost entirely outside of ASA. I think this is why giving Clubs DA is a big mistake. There is too much self-interest for the Club and its own travel programs and it becomes less about fulfilling the things DA was designed to do.

You can see in these 08 ASA girl posts how rabid the parents are and want their "civil service" protection instead of having to fight it out each tryout season.

so these are the potential teams they are recruiting from? the pool is small.

https://events.gotsport.com/events/teamlist.aspx?showall=clean&eventid=74606

Some teams do not have any DA caliber players
Some teams come from too far away to be feasible
Some teams are part of DA/ECNL competitor programs

The only teams with any potential DA caliber players are:

Gunston (really? it's far away)
Loudon Red (really? too far)
Richmond (really? way too far)
VSA (really? way too far)

That leaves these teams left for potential DA recruits

Springfield
Vienna

Truth in abundance here. I think on the boys side they would do better I f they make it clear they are nothing like U9-11 teams and coaches.

They said they were going to make offers to 5-6 girls this week. That’s about 1/2 the red. I read it as offers to girls from outside the club(lock them up early). Arlington red players are not going anywhere.

This is not right. They had originally said they would offer 8-10 girls this week, but email last night indicated that they had decided to hold off and that they are not going to extend any offers until after Jeff Cup.
