When they first started DA at ASA, Director took a lot of sh*t for not having many ASA players on DA teams.  So---the coming years they went the opposite direction and pulled almost exclusively from ASA.  Parents wanted to believe it showed player development was sound and by not taking ASA players they felt it didn't demonstrate such.  Then, mixed results.  Boys 2004 was almost entirely outside of ASA.  I think this is why giving Clubs DA is a big mistake.  There is too much self-interest for the Club and its own travel programs and it becomes less about fulfilling the things DA was designed to do.

You can see in these 08 ASA girl posts how rabid the parents are and want their "civil service" protection instead of having to fight it out each tryout season.[/quote]
