Can you tell me about Frederick Maryland + your opinion on this home inside?

Hi,

I googled "walkable areas in maryland" and Frederick came up as being a mini-DC. (not sure about that-but hey)

Is it diverse (age, ethnicity, etc)? I'm an AA female, single, 38

How are schools? I have a 4 year old son.

How is your commute into DC or other parts close to DC metro? I work in foggy bottom but have telework days so I can work my commute down (no car but would by a car)

I found this home, which is in my budget. Where else can I look to find something similar in this price range(no more than 380k) and "walkable"?

I love that home but it is far away, commute would be bad. I'm not even sure it is walkable to down town Frederick.

While I love downtown Frederick and love to walk around there... I prefer Urbana, you could get a townhouse in your price range.

The commute will still be not great but the schools are the best, the area is wonderful, you can walk to a few places and it is growing. I think it's a better investment.

Cute house but I think when people talk about commuting from Frederick they mean to Rockville or Gaithersburg not union station

Oops I meant not foggy bottom

I was thinking union station because there might me a Marc from Frederick to union station that would make that less bad

I love Frederick, but would not commute to DC.

I have close family that lives in downtown Frederick and love it. Commute into DC was a nightmare though, taking nearly 2 hours one way some days. They've since found jobs in Maryland.

I really don't want to commute to DC either but this is my reality. Where else can I find a home similar to this (or even a townhome) that is in a 'walkable' area in my budget? I'm open to MD/VA and if you can find DC-great ( highly doubt it-but great )

Frederick is a cute little city with good schools, cheaper housing, and lots to do.

It is also a horrible commute to DC. Like 2 hours each way bad (I work near Farragut West). My coworker does it on the train, my boss used to do it by car...I'm on the lookout for jobs there because i would NOT sign up for that commute.

Isn’t there a cell of the KKK based in Frederick that is still very active?

Look at Urbana and settle for a townhouse and commute.

ASAP start looking for a job closer to home... that is what most people do.

How about Greenbelt, MD?

No. You are thinking of Thurmont’s rumor.

I feel like i'd be settling 3 times. I don't want to give up my career. I love it-so that idea is out. But will check out Urbana. -OP

What about a townhome or small SFH in Rockville?
