I really don't want to commute to DC either but this is my reality. Where else can I find a home similar to this (or even a townhome) that is in a 'walkable' area in my budget? I'm open to MD/VA and if you can find DC-great ( highly doubt it-but great )

Look at Urbana and settle for a townhouse and commute.

ASAP start looking for a job closer to home... that is what most people do.

I feel like i'd be settling 3 times. I don't want to give up my career. I love it-so that idea is out. But will check out Urbana. -OP

How about Hyattsville?

This was true a long time ago and it was Thurmont in 1995 that the KKK had a gathering.

Diversity in Frederick now White Alone residents (55.2%), Black or African American Alone residents (17.8%), Hispanic or Latino residents (15.9%),Asian Alone residents (6.78%), Two or More Races residents (3.69%),

Democrats are about 45%, Republicans are 45% and other are 10%

Yeah, but I'm pretty old and the area has hopefully changed!

the house is cute but your commute would be awful. Frederick is not diverse or close to anything.

Not built yet. You can get a house in Kensington/Wheaton/Silver Spring for that price but not new. Finishes are very basic but its a pretty house. I don't like the open first floor and would want more walls.

It's close to lots of things, it may not be close to things you are close to but you are not the center of the universe.

You're fine in 99% of Frederick county. Nothing like somebody in DC yelling KKK to mislead you about something they heard long ago. They would probably get lost on 270 to get to Frederick much less have an informed opinion.

Twinbrook area of Rockville or a townhouse in the Beall or College Gardens school districts in a Rockville. You’ll still have a long commute by MUCH better than Urbana or Frederick and near the red line.

I have friends who are an interracial (and gay) couple living in Hyattesville. Until recently, they didn't have a car. They love it there.

Rockville and Germantown are both closer and on the Marc train line but finding a nice house for that cost, not likely
