Does anyone have a link to all the ED/EA/RD stats from last year and this year so far? I assume they will be more conservative in EA admissions due to last year’s unexpected yield.
I saw 31,000 apps for Fall 2020 for 6,675 spots. How many spots went ED? |
| They have to be more conservative both for EA and RD, and they aren't doing themselves any favors by having EA so late (Feb 22) and so little time between EA and RD (March 5). |
Maybe EA results will come out a few days ahead of schedule? |
I was really REALLY hoping they'd follow the trend of a lot of the other schools and release 2 weeks early. Now I guess we're hoping for one week early? Regardless the super small time between EA and Regular is weird. Every other school posts at least a month difference between EA and RD. The application for EA to Tech was due Dec 1, RD was due January 15. Why this spread of due dates for the application (which is fairly typical) but then this tiny gap between releasing the decisions? It's just... odd. |
| I agree their EA timing is just weird. And we've been told you pretty much have to apply EA, that RD is only for filling gaps in some majors. So why even bother offering "Early" action when it isn't really early. |
Interesting. Goes back to OP's original question. Would be great to know what % of the class is filled by ED, by EA, and by RD. |
| It seems in general that they are trying to get out of being a safety school. Some high stat kids have been turned down the last couple of years while lower stat kids admitted. They probably don’t care much about early action. It’s just more kids applying to a long list of schools and it doesn’t help them predict their enrollment. They might get a handful of yeses to EA offers. How would it help them better manage their enrollment? |
15:27^ only speculation on my part. I don’t know anything
|
VT is not and has never been a "safety school" And has not let in kids with lower stats than others for a majority. |
| 70% admissions rate. Yes, they have been a safety school for many. |
Talk to a Fairfax County counselor about the last year. They are definitely denying a certain kind of person. |
And yet, it's seen as "better" than other VA publics such as JMU, CNU, or VCU. It's confusing... Is it that it is perceived as a safety only for UVA or W&M? |
Don't be coy. What are you saying? |
| So for a kid with a 4.0 and a 1500 it isn’t a safety? Riiiight. |
. Not for engineering. You need better than a 4.0 weighted |
