And, let’s look at what the WaPo wrote.........
Last week, then-FBI Director James B. Comey requested more resources from the Justice Department for his bureau’s investigation into collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government, according to two officials with knowledge of the discussion. Comey, who was fired by President Trump on Tuesday, made the request in a meeting last week with Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, and later briefed the chair and Democratic ranking member of the Senate Intelligence Committee on Monday, the officials said.
So, not only is the Post saying a request was made.... they said it was made from the very person who is denying he is aware of such a request. As I said, it was a BS story.
So, TBH, I don't care much about the details of this story. But I've been finding the pattern of information coming out of the Administration disturbing. We have a situation where the AG, when directly questioned during his confirmation hearings, apparently just "forgot" about multiple meetings he had with Russians during the campaign. And now we have the DAG saying he "is not aware" whether a request for more resources was made in a meeting that he apparently attended. This is very odd. If he was at the meeting, he ought be able to deny that the request was made in his presence. It's strange that he doesn't do that, and his phrasing leaves open the possibility that (1) the request was made in his presence but he forgot, or (2) the request was made at another time. You can call me a partisan if you want, but I would argue that it's the WH and the rest of the Administration that has demonstrated itself to be untrustworthy. I tend to believe that Rosenstein would not state an outright falsehood. But at this point, if there is any wiggle room at all coming out of a statement from an Administration official, I don't know how I can believe anything but the worst about the intention behind doing so.
Yep. I call you partisan. You are following the lead of other Democrats who were present at the meeting. They didn’t like what they heard because it didn’t fit their narrative. So sorry. And, I continue to question the media when they reference “anonymous” or “unnamed” sources. Stories like the one I posted lead so many of us to distrust the media. With good cause. BTW - Rosenstein also said that he stands by the letter he wrote about Comey. His words.... "I wrote it. I believe it. I stand by it.”
