Not one word, not one peep out of DoD.

Where the hell is Hegseth, or at a minimum, his "crackerjack" experienced spokesman John Ullyot?

Ullyot had no problem getting the word out that they were stripping Milley of clearances just a few hours earlier.

Be he's mum on this???

Secretary BoozeBag’s “statement” was a tweet that said his department was “poised to assist if needed.” MFer, your department CAUSED this accident, so put down the Pappy and do your freaking job. They are all such cowards.

This is wrong. Both hegseth and trump issued statements before 11:00 last night. Not fans of either but this is incorrect.

WH put out generic statement. Trump was absent until 1 am and then blamed the air traffic controllers at the agency where he had just fired their director and many others.

Then Trump wrote “NOT GOOD” like a six year old.

His first statement said “praying for their souls” at a point when they were still in rescue mode officially. He may have been briefed that there were likely no survivors but it’s super tacky to say you’re praying for the soul of someone when there are still search and rescue operations to find them. It’s a small sign that he is just not processing details correctly.

Also blamed the soldiers who were flying the Blackhawk, as any decent Commander-In-Chief would do.

Well I suppose that makes it easy for the families to demand the US compensate them for their loss, one that could have been prevented. It doesn’t so in d like he’s prepared to give them answers.

Jumping to defaming people with no investigation or fact finding is so incredibly toxic and irresponsible.

It’s the first maneuver in the Trump Playbook.

Mostly frozen? Temps have been above freezing for several days.

I work at the Wharf and the river freezes and unfreezes when it's in the 40s 50s during the day.

I work in old town and am from Wisconsin. Rivers here don’t freeze beyond a thin surface layer for a day or two.

Wrong.

Seems like firing a lot of government works ends up being expensive and dangerous.

They killed 60 people, some our most talented athletes.

The military or someone is going to have to pay out a lot of money.

So much for cutting jobs to “save money.”

I love all the “winning.”

This is on President Musk and Trump.

Right. Canceling DEI (and transgender service members!) instead of flight safety.

Don’t forget about ripping portraits off walls and trying to take away stars. I think those were Hegseth’s first “official” actions. Like a playground bully.

Anyone who lives in Loudoun knows how recklessly these Black Hawks fly when on their way to or from the "secret" Mount Weather.

They fly much too low, and I've often seen them do maneuvers that seem like they were more for "funsies" than tactical. People have complained for years about them and The Helicopters are always a hot topic of discussion on the Loudoun fb groups.

There was one or two flying over last night about 15-20 mins before this crash.

The fundamental problem is the orientation of Runway 33 vis-a-vis military traffic on the east side of the Potomac. It’s past time that Runway 33 is closed. If that means DCA has to shed a few slots so be it. Plenty of capacity at IAD.

That was also the opinion of a guest (aviation expert?) on nbc4 this morning. Planes have to swing out to the east side of the river to land on that runway, which brings them into the same space as the helicopters that fly low and the helicopters have to maintain visual distance. Too much can go wrong.

I know nothing about airplanes. But I cannot understand how in 2025, planes aren’t equipped with technology that gives them exact location and screen visualization of other close airplanes in the air. I can understand how the naked eye could miss a nearby plane when traveling from above or below, plus night, and fast moving. But surely helicopters and commercial planes have better onboard technology than purely relying on the pilot looking out the window.

Well, how about that plane that just went missing—for years.

There is technology that could prevent that, but industry dues not want to pay for it, so it is not required.

I want everyone also to say a prayer and hold in their hearts all the law enforcement and fire rescue/recovery divers that jumped into dark freezing water last night and swam through jet fuel and dangerous debris, only to be met with a plan full of dead teenagers. They should have the thanks, prayers, and support of all of us. I cannot imagine anything more scary and horrific. I hope they are all getting excellent mental health support.

And more. The US Figure Skating Championship was just held in Wichita, KS this past weekend.

Yes, and I assume some, if not all also had a parent on board.

Twitter is 90% fake maga bots at this point in 2025. No one gets their news from there and obviously a post on a privately owned propaganda site is not an official govt communication.

The most activity is always the week leading up to the State of the Union. They do practice flights and then they fly a specific formation out the day of the SoTU, which I'm assuming is when they fly out the designated survivors.

But Black Hawks fly over at least a few times a week normally, too.
