Nope, that’s not my idea at all. I actually don’t care about SFH versus duplexes, townhomes, etc. I actually live in a duplex currently. I just took issue with the idea that suburbs were an “abomination” (someone’s words on here) when in reality a lot of people like living in them. And even in many cases they like suburbs with lots of SFHs. |
There is a very strong preference for single family homes and neighborhoods that constantly displayed across the US. Go ahead and ban single family zoning, it will only help Republicans win back the Senate in 2024. Many Dems hate this idea and will switch their vote over it. https://www.redfin.com/news/millennial-homebuyers-prefer-single-family-homes/#:~:text=While%20every%20homebuyer%20is%20different,work%20and%20the%20ability%20to |

I no longer vote for Dems for any state or local offices due to this government overreach trying to tell local counties and communities how they should live. As long as Dems want to destroy the suburbs, I will never vote for these idiots in my state. |
Yes, a lot of people like living in them. I don't think anybody would disagree with that, not even the person who said that suburbs are an abomination. How is that relevant to the proposed zoning changes, though? |
Oh, the irony. |
My preference is for a job that pays me very well to do just as I please. Unfortunately, this is not an option for me. So I have to choose among the options I do have, even though they do not fit my preference as well. |
Alright that your problem, to bad too sad. "Affordable housing" is just another scam for developers and useless nonprofits to get more government money. |
|
So your solution is to eliminate single family zoning and ruin neighborhoods with density they don't have infrastructure for because you want to live I a cheaper rental. Basically, YIMBYs don't believe in personal accountability and they want to subsidize people that made bad decisions with their life. |
Eh, no, that's you who thinks that. I don't think it will ruin neighborhoods. Do you even hear yourself? "Ruin"? And no, this is not about housing for me, personally. I've been a homeowner in Montgomery County for 25 years. |
Alright you can be in denial about reality, but the suburbs are nice for a reason. Allow excessive density and everything will go to hell. Then watch all the rich people leave and MOCO lose hundreds of millions in tax revenue with no one left to offset the people that don’t pay enough taxes to cover their share of county government spending. |
Why ironic? Abortion rights? Just curious. I am the same as PP and will never vote Dem for local offices. |
Ruin, “the state of being extensively harmed or damaged?” I’d say that was appropriate language. |
It is a YImBY goal to destroy suburban life as we know it. Scroll through this very thread and listen to them. This isn’t hyperbole, it isn’t some secret, it’s very plainly stated. |
