Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
If this is your definition of exploitation, you are sheltered. And highly offensive to those who are actually exploited. |
| Maribeth Luftglass. That is all. |
| So all the PPs that are waxing eloquent about how courageous Callie is and how she broke no laws etc. - do you have kids with IEPs whose data might have been exposed? And if so are you Ok with that and still support her actions? |
exploit verb ex·ploit ik-ˈsplȯit ˈek-ˌsplȯit transitive verb 2 : to make use of meanly or unfairly for one's own advantage She is unfairly using thousands of family’s confidential information without their consent for her own advantage. |
| I’ve scoured the posts and I’m just madder and madder at FCPS. I’m not Callie. I don’t know Callie. I did call my sped lawyer though and he said that unless you were harmed by what was posted, don’t worry about it. FCPS is in big BIG trouble. (I’m sorry for those who have identifiable information out there though. FCPS should answer for that to you.) |

I am a parent whose children have IEPs and data was exposed in this latest breach.
IT isFCPS. responsibility to maintain my sudent's privacy. THE END. No one else. It is not transferable responsibility. Unfortunately it is common that parents. need to ask forstudents data through the FERPA process. There is a ongoing general lack of transparency with information. I. have been. shocked with my. own. students data, low scores and incidents that have been intentionally with held. I would encourage all parents of students with IEPs to. do. their own. FERPA request if they have cocernns about lack of progress. I have also been GIVEN other students private information when getting my own students data. OVER AND OVER AGAIN. When I. notify FCPS they do not follow the proper protocol by notifying those families. EVER. I am thankful that Callie is drawing attention to this. FCPS needs to pay better attention to the private information they are entrusted with. Callie has zero legal responsibility to our children yet it appears she has redacted all identifiable information. HIPPA only applies to medical professionals not Callie. I would be great if FCPS would take this breech and make positive changes to narrow the educational gaps. I am shocked at the misdirection of anger. This is a longstanding FCPS weakness. Callie is not the problem and is protecting our children. If not for Callie we would have never known. I am looking for FCPS accountability moving forward. |
| No, she should have deleted it as soon as she realized what it was. Instead she distributed it to others. WTF? |
Yes. I’m way more upset with fcps for being so reckless with data they should be protecting. |
Please. You can’t be that dense. |
She never should have been given it. Neither should the dozens or hundreds of others they’ve done the same thing to. Who will you blame when it ends up in the hands of Lazarus or some other hacker? I’m sure Lazarus will be very concerned with your outrage. |
She should not have deleted. She did the right thing by exposing the blatant disregard for student privacy at FCPS. Now the heads need to roll at FCPS administration and the Board for inaction. But whose? |
Whoever was hired to fix the mess Maribeth Luftgrass was negligently let happening for years. Clearly NOTHING has changed. |
| Callie isn't trying to protect our children or advance their causes. She's just out to expose FCPS. She's useless. This is all useless and upsetting. My kid has an IEP. I don't approve of anything Callie does. |
Is that because fcps doesn’t need explosing because everyone knows they don’t protect kids data at all and doesn’t care? |

I wonder how much Callie’s 501c3 has been able to raise off of all this free publicity?
