Can I sue Callie Oettinger?

Anonymous
She wrongfully published my child’s personal health information.

I believe I cannot sue FCPS.

Sure you can sue anyone.

She did not publish health information that can be connected to your child.

Why can’t you sue FCPS? They released the information and did not protect it

I hope several people sue her

Callie is now afraid and wants you to sue FCPS.

Can we sue as a group? I’m more interested in suing Callie than FCPS, though I do want the person at FCPS who made the leak to be fired.

They released information by accident while trying to respond to Callie’s abuse of FOIA and constant demands for data.

Callie could have told the school and securely deleted the information, but instead she waited and meticulously combed through children’s personal information before publishing redacted copies onto the internet. That was no accident.

Did she redact the information herself, or did she get someone else to do it? If the latter, that means she let more people have access to our children’s information. I sure hope the redaction cannot be reversed.

Does she still have this information? Is she storing information securely? Is she showing the information to others who ask her about their children? Why won’t she delete the information securely?

I’m way more disgusted with her than FCPS.

I assume she has all the original information with the names of our children. I say that because I got the letter today. I don't see why this isn't criminal. Like, if the bank gives you too much money, and you keep it, isn't that stealing? Callie, I hope you're reading this.

So she has kids’ information and she exposed it to… who? Her lawyer, her friend who helped her redact it, the cloud service that stores the info, a journalist writing a story about her exploits…

Callie, delete the information as securely as possible, please.

+1
Her act was intentional.

Criminals would probably love to get their hands on this data. I get that the school shouldn’t have released it to Callie, but at this point I’m more worried about it in Callie’s hands. She has literally told the world she is in possession of a treasure trove of personal information.

Agreed. She has PII/learning issues with my kids name on it. To say that I'm angry would be plumbing the depths of understatement. It's as if she had an illegally obtained nude photo of a female relative published on her website but just cropped off the face. Callie, I hope you're reading this.

I love the idea of a group lawsuit against her. Even if the only result is she stops foia-ing 10,000 times a month.

I still would prefer to sue FCPS. Y’all might hate Callie but she is h to e only one shining a light on how terrible special Ed is and how gatehouse is a mess with data and lots of other things- like the whole due process thing where parents never won because the judges were on the FCPS payroll.

Nah, I'd sue Callie. FCPS was dumb in releasing the info and someone needs to get canned. But we wouldn't be here without Callie posting it on the Internet.

I'm in, if someone wants to organize this.

As for Callie, she did not contact FCPS about the files. As far as we know, "the74million.org" might have copies sitting on their hard drives.
