The Dems want to "overturn the 2016 election results"

Anonymous
I am so tired of hearing this from the right.

No one is trying to "overturn the 2016 election." It isn't possible. It was 3 years ago. Trump has been President longer than JFK was in office, FFS. We can't erase that time in office (much as many of us might want to) and there is no process by which we could "overturn" the election and install Hillary as President.

So why do they keep repeating this ridiculous statement?

How stupid do you have to be to fall for it?

Logic is not the Trumpsters strong suit. They’ve fallen for far more ridiculous assertions.

Is it more accurate to say that some Democrats want to remove him from the 2020 ballot?

Oh, OP.

Definition of overturn: an act of turning over or upsetting something; a revolution, subversion, or reversal.

In this case, it is "upsetting something" or "a revolution."
And, you have been showing your cards since before Trump was inaugurated.

And, what we know is that you won't stop with Trump. The Democrats are doing more to interfere in the 2020 race than any foreign government.

Actually, it is more accurate to say that given Trump is inducing influence in the 2020 election from foreign countries, and given his administration and the Senate are working against the interests of the American public where election security is concerned, I would say that it is the duty of everyone on the Hill to remove him from eligibility from the 2020 election.

Fair to say that many have not accepted the reality of his electoral victory.

Not really. It is real, but given what we know of Russian interference, it likely isn't legitimate. Even with that, a constitutional action, like impeachment, is not "overturning" an election.

Something in the Constitution can't be a revolution.

Nope. Nothing in the Constitution prevents him from running in 2020 if removed.

Exactly.

A Senate conviction *can* (but doesn't *have to*) include disqualification from holding future public office.

It’s hard for the Republicans, OP. They’ve descended into a situation where there no morality, no principle, no law other than Trumpism. They’re in the palm of his hand. Can you imagine what that must be like?
