I feel sorry they were left behind alive with killers for sons. What are they going to do - forgive them? Visit as they spend a lifetime in a local prison? Remarry and move on? |

I think they are also taught seeking help for depression or anxiety is a sign of weakness and something for girls, not boys. |

I love when people find a small handful of female cases to refute thousands of male cases instead of examining while males disproportionately commit these crimes. It is so helpful! |

I don't know that parents teach their boys that it's okay to do this-- or that it's necessarily "toxic masculinity." Mental illness is complicated -- and how it's expressed may be gender related (biological). I will bet that these boys were out of control at home, and parents don't always know what to decide when a situation has become a crisis. I think of toxic masculinity to be someone like Brock Turner or Harvey Weinstein, not boys who have gone off the rails. |
