Don’t vote for Joe Biden, guys, please!

The he’s electable meme is a narrative based on a fallacy. It’s not true guys.

Let me be very clear about this: I adore Joe Biden. I think Joe Biden is a truly gifted, special person. He’s a national treasure with a real talent for comforting and relating to people.

That said, he is way past his prime, and it’s showing. He’s not up to it, guys, and you know it. Anyone with eyes and ears can tell.

Maybe the bigger issue is, as an establishment guy with a very long—and controversial—political history, he will not inspire people to vote for him. A bunch of older poll respondents say they’ll vote for him. That’s great, but young people (black, white, whomever) will not come out for this guy. Yes, even young black people will not come out for him.

Young people come out for candidates that excite them. That is not Joe Biden.

I’m against all octogenarians being president, frankly. I’m most worried about Joe, though, because people are believing this false narrative that he’s the most electable.

Just look at history, and you'll see that democrats win with young, fresh candidates that excite the electorate.

By the way, Hillary Clinton was the most electable, too...

Who do you suggest? They ALL have their weaknesses.

This is meaningless. Because you could say the same about every other candidate.

Sanders. Some will hold their nose and vote for him, but many will stay home.

Warren: she get great Dem support but no disenfranchised Republicans.

Buttigieg: he will get most Democrats, but maybe black voters won’t be excited.

Biden: he will get most Dems, moderates, some Republicans. Young voters may stay home.

I do have a favorite candidate, but I don’t even know if it’s important to my point. I just don’t want people to vote for Joe under this falsehood.

Joe is the best choice. If he asked Kamala to be his running mate and told her he'd only serve one term, that would be amazing.

I am voting for Joe in the primary but will vote for the Democratic nominee no matter who it is. Even Bernie. UGH.

That would be idiotic, and it supports my point that Joe isn’t it.

I agree with OP about Joe being way past his prime.... BUT, I disagree that people won't come out for him. They will. People like me and many others will vote blue no matter who. I don't like Bernie and feel that his conscientious objecting to Vietnam is incompatible with being commander in chief -- but I will vote for him if he is the nominee. I don't think Elizabeth's Warren's plans are good, but I will definitely vote for her. Was a super fan of Pete, but he's getting on my nerves lately -- but I will gladly vote for him. Bloomberg has some baggage, but I'll vote for him. And so on.

Biden does not inspire, but I think a lot of us out here are willing to be un-inspired and still plan to vote. Looking for "inspirational" candidates is a luxury we no longer have.

No, I feel you about Biden. He seems like a decent person, but he’s just tired, tired, tired. He’s in his late seventies. He’s lost two kids and a wife. His heart just isn’t in it.

If he’s the nom, Ill vote for him in the general with no real reservations but I’m voting Warren in the primary. Smart. Into it. A scrapper.

You mean, as opposed to black women who don't care? And are planning to vote Joe?

Why would Joe trust Kamala?

I agree 100%. I have no idea why the media and party establishment is pushing this narrative. Joe has run twice before and dropped out one other time before it began. He was a 1-2% candidate. He did not get any better since he last ran.

Agreed, OP. The other candidates all have their weaknesses but they also seem to have a core constituency that gets excited about them.

No one seems truly excited about Biden.
