I cannot believe Virginia celebrates "Lee-Jackson" day as an official holiday. Yet another reason to not go near this state and certainly never live there. I always thought Virginian's saying the south will rise again was a joke or overstatement. Wow, was I wrong about that. So much better north of the Potomac.

Saying a few cities do not honor it is pointless. It's a State holiday. And what even more laughable, you merged it with MLK day in 1983 then reversed that in 2000. You're going backwards and showing us how much you love the stars and bars.

The freakin' ERA (!) just passed the general assembly today - only 1 week after the Ds took over. We have at least a whole year to make progress - give it time.

1983 was nearly 40 years ago. 2000 was 20 years ago. I’m assuming you’re fairly old, but really, 20 years ago is ancient history, politically speaking.

It's no longer a state holiday, but for years we had lee-jackson-king day because it was the only way the hold outs would have a King holiday from 1984 til 2000.
