Native Virginian and I never heard of it.
|
The North is still practicing it. Go visit. Fairfield County, CT, is a good place to start. |
You mean I wasn’t subject to southern brainwashing? The “War of Northern Aggression” was about slavery. And the Confederates chose to commit treason and were ultimately responsible for the deaths of 620,000 Americans. |
Horrible racism? Yes. But not traitors. |
Thanks for confirming my earlier suspicion! |
Yes, you were brainwashed. |
|
No one was ever prosecuted for treason and the federal government even paid out pensions to Confederate widows.
You can find the reasons why the south seceded in their declarations, many if them citr that the north wasn't following the Constitutions fugitive slave clause, which is true. So slavery related, but more complex than many allege. Also keep in mind that slave holding states did fight for the union. So again more complex... |
Davis WAS indicted on treason. Almost everyone was given amnesty via few presidential proclamations (1863, 1865, 1868) to support reconstruction. "a full pardon and amnesty for the offence of treason against the United States" And Lee was technically never pardoned in his lifetime. He died a traitor without US citizenship. |
| This thread is hilarious. I had never heard of the holiday until I went to the VA DMV on Friday only to find it closed for Lee-Jackson Day. I thought the sign on the door was some real life trolling but door was actually locked. |
| Another jealous MD resident |
You have never heard of it because you haven't lived in VA long if you didn't realize that VA DMV is closed for this auspicious holiday. |
Who would be jealous of celebrating a traitor? |
Lol your are such a loser. Learn some history before spouting off. Stay jealous buttercup! |
| The moron on his/her “traitor” kick is giving me a good laugh... |
Wow. You sound very educated. AND like someone who loves traitors. If you were actually able to dispute the “traitor” label then you’d do it. But you know you can’t so you resort to name-calling.
