I’ve heard Pret a mawn-ger, Pret a man-zhair, Pret a mange, which is it?
YouTube isn’t helping |
| I've always said pret ah mon zhay, but that's just me. |
+1 |
| Honestly I find it confusing and pretentious. I go to McDonalds instead. |

| The correct French pronunciation is Pret a man-jay, to rhyme with pret a porter - ready to eat as a pun on ready to wear. Pret in the UK is so much better than the Pret in the US. I had a sandwich recently in DC which I would describe as gross whereas a Pret lunch would be the highlight of a day in London. Also in the UK folks just say Pret, and many of the new stores are being branded as just Pret and not Pret a Manger. |
+1 But mostly I, and everything else, just says Pret. Easy to say and no one is confused. |
| I thought it was pret ah mon jay. |
| Go to google translate and type in prêt a manger. Then tap the speaker button. It's french. |
I love you. Me too. |
Yes, but the J in Jay is pronounced more softly, like a z. |
| Pret a Manger is exactly like McDonalds in London. One on every corner. |
|
Approximation: Prey (hard r sound) Ta Mangey (soft g sound) - French person |
| I just say Pret so I don’t embarrass myself. |
