| I had gotten down to a normal weight this fall and totally threw it all away over the holidays and am completely back to where I started. I’m so angry with myself and starting over is super discouraging. I honestly didn’t think I would gain that much if I indulged a little over the holidays. |
| I’m with you OP! So easy to gain, it’s crazy. One day at a time and don’t judge yourself too harshly. Being good all the time can be a real drag. Remember the fun you had over the holidays and just move forward. |
| You have proof that you can do it if you set your mind to it, so, ... set your mind to it and get started. |
| How much did you gain back? |
Around 7-10ish pounds |
|
A lot of that is probably bloat from water weight. Once you tighten up your diet again at least some of that water weight will come right off.
Don't panic. You can undo this pretty quickly if you put your mind to it. |

You can get back on track.
Since it seems like you don't have a clear sense of how much weight you're gaining at any given point, I suggest weighing yourself every day. I've done that for years and it's very helpful. |
Can you elaborate please? I'm debating starting to do this, I only weigh about once a week now but think I might need to change as I get closer to my goal weight. |
No not this far out. A lot of us were up 2-3 lbs Jan 1 and that was water weight. Up 10 lbs in January 12 when “the holidays” ended 2-3 weeks ago is actual weight. |
| I weigh myself every single day! It keeps me on task. It makes me aware of what should or should not have eaten. It makes me start the day with a plan to do better. It makes me plan to exercise a little more and maybe eat a little less today. Good Luck, you can do this! |
| I agree with weighing yourself every single day, but don't freak out over every little fluctuation. Water and your "schedule" will matter more from day to day. If you're up 2 lbs for several days in a row, that's when you know it's sticking. |
| I'm another daily weigh-er. I can let my wishful thinking get the best of me, and think "oh, I haven't eaten too many cookies...it won't impact my weight." If I only weigh weekly I can miss the two pound weight gain that should make me stop eating cookies, or whatever. Keeps me from deluding myself that I'm actually eating well when I'm not. |
| for all you daily weigh-ers- when do you weigh (morning, before or after a workout) and with what scale. Thanks |
| I weigh daily - once in the morning, once in the evening. It helps me to see the difference between normal weight flucuations and actual weight loss/gain. |
