Why did you delete criticism of the Catholic Church?

Anonymous
It wasn’t wrong. I was discussing how corrosive the Church has been throughout history.

Thank you for posting this. Given the constant criticism I get from Catholics, I now have an example of how I remove anti-Catholic posts. I removed them because you were singling out a single religion.

But I didn’t say anything inaccurate.

What I was saying wasn’t anti-Catholic; it was simply criticism of what the Church has done. Are you in the business of deleting historically accurate posts because they are critical of a particular religion?

Yes.

How were you presenting your issue?
Was this discussion regarding history?
Like what happened in one particular European country at this particular century. Was it just talk about the religion or the whole historical context?

Perhaps we need a history forum

Yes.

Really? That’s sad, Jeff. It really is.

It was in a thread about the impact of religion on society. I brought up the impact of the Church as a tool of political control across the world, but especially in Europe.

However, Jeff allows anti-Semitism on the religion forum. Many of us have had to deal with absolute bigots on that front.

Specifically, in a thread about religion in general, this poster singled out the Catholic church to blame for a number of horrors, all of which can also be found in the history of other religions.

I can't possibly read every post on this website. If you saw anti-Semitic posts and failed to report them, it is not a case of me allowing anti-Semitism, but rather your failure to make me aware of it. I am constantly removing posts that single out Jews unfairly, much in the way that I removed your posts.

Sad and weak

Sure, I should be brave and strong and post anti-Catholic diatribes while hiding my identity behind anonymous posts.

It’s not anti-semitism to point out that the anti-Catholic bigot is Jewish. It’s sad and not a good look, though.

If you’re spending your Friday night defending yourself against people calling you an anti-Catholic bigot, you really need to rethink your choices.

You posted straight-up falsehoods about Catholicism. Like how the Christian “origin story” is supposedly all about seizing power, which you tried to contrast with Buddhism.

While it’s not true about the origin story, most of what was posted is true.
