Why did you delete criticism of the Catholic Church?

While it’s not true about the origin story, most of what was posted is true.

You called Catholicism a scourge of humanity. That's also not true. You asked for any good thing the Catholic Church had done; people (not me) gave you a few ideas; and then you claimed that nobody was able to respond to your request.

You're no different from any online hate group. The online hate group might post the occasional true thing but can never get beyond bias to have a more well-rounded view of the object of their hate.

You need to find a hobby that brings out your good side. You need to dump this hobby where you indulge your hatreds on Friday evenings.

I’m not the PP. just someone saying the criticism wasn’t merited.

You should be ashamed of yourself, too. Although I suspect you’re the bigot on a different computer.... If not, what religion are you?

This last PP seems to be obsessed with the religion of everyone. Speak to a therapist about your mental health problems. We can’t help you.

And if anybody wondered whether bigots are emotionally immature, here’s your proof.

Agree - that is not true. Religion itself (all of the various flavors) is the scourge of humanity.

If it weren't religion, it we be something else. We all believe in our myths. The scourge of humanity is...humanity.

Jeff, do you see the problem with trolls on the religion forum? Start any topic and the pre-teens come in.

Good point. If humans hadn’t made up religion they would have made up some other system to abuse.

Name-calling on a Sunday? Isn’t that an automatic demerit?

And I thought the issue was singling out Catholicism. Problem solved.

Criticism of the Catholic Church is clearly a sore point on this forum. Yes some of the historical details were wrong, but if you all can’t accept that the Church hasn’t been all good, you’re the delusional ones. I have a feeling that if the criticism had been of Islam, you wouldn’t have had as much of a problem. Am I right?

Hope I’m wrong.

Nobody ever, ever said the Catholic Church has been “all good.” We were objecting to the hate speech you spent all Friday posting.

The issue was that I wasn’t talking about the bad things about other religions, which I could have of course done. Would you have preferred that? I doubt it.

I’m sorry you were offended by my posts, but recognize that that was the reason for the measures that were taken. I admit I made historical mistakes about the origin of Christianity, but I honestly wasn’t trying to engage in hate speech. Of course the church has done good things, but it’s also done some horrific things. That was really what I was bringing up.

I could have talked about what Islam has been responsible for. Would you have had the same reaction?
