So if Trump comes after IVF is Sears protecting us? Clearly no.

Trump will not come after IVF (he's previously done the opposite). But Sears seems to be a nut. I don't know how she was ever on the ticket to begin with.

This is standard practice for fundraising, don’t read into it (and I’m saying that as a Dem voting for Winsome)

“Dems” don’t vote for MAGA.

This. Pre-Trump I was an independent. Dems don't vote for a terrible R candidate. Sears isn't a strong or moderate candidate. She is untrustworthy on abortion and she supports Trump destroying the local economy. I understand why Youngkin won. Sears makes no sense. The supposed Dem voting for her is a liar, and a bad one.

That’s OK. Since you don’t want them in your club, they also have the option to stay home. Either away. looks like you won’t get their votes.

I wouldn’t put it past him.

And how about Vance? He’s a born again Catholic and voted against the Right to IVF Act.

Our schools are terrible. I want school choice, more magnets and she is only interested in resource teachers. I’m at a title 1 school and there are already 2-3 resource teachers per classroom, yet every year scores drop. There is such intense focus on underperforming kids that no one else is learning grade level material. Instead of politicians saying they’re for schools- what about teachers and parents?

This comment got me thinking. It's the one thing that Spanberger said about schools that makes me cringe. Otherwise, I like her. I didn't vote for Youngkin, but in regards to school...I think he's done a great job. The school system is failing the kids. I appreciate the standards and accountability he's put in. I celebrate that he finally stood up to cell phones in school! So, if Sears has been under him for the past few years...I may just vote for her. Haven't even considered it until this comment made me think about it.

I'm a single issue voter for education and voted straight R. Will never trust Democrats with my kids after Covid.

It is unfortunate to hear that you despise teachers and school staff, but I guess there are many of you out there.

The open school nutters still haven’t recovered from their pandemic mental health crises.

This. Not to mention Trump was President during this time…but why let facts get in the way.

You understand that Trump wasn't/isn't able to tell the states how to handle their school issues - right? Sounds like it's you who needs to brush up on the facts.
DP

Got it. So you think the party that does not believe in science is more superior in education?

Republicans don’t believe in science AND they suck at education.

I dispute your premise. Virginia’s schools are some of the best in the country. Or at least they were until the current administration took over. School “choice” and magnets only dilute this quality and divert much needed funding from our high-performing schools.

The focus on underperforming kids is appropriate. It is not at all accurate to say that “no one else is learning grade-level material.” In fact, that so patently false I accuse you of being a lying liar who lies.

Virginia schools went downhill when Northam and McAuliffe were in office. Youngkin greatly improved them. School choice does not dilute quality or divert funds; rather, it creates competition and encourages public schools to improve. It also provides opportunities for students whose needs aren’t being met in public schools to attend schools that are a better fit.

Competition? WTF? Education isn’t a free market commodity.

If you defund public schools, they will suffer.

Yikes… You might want to check where you get your news.

For starters, he said he’d make it free on the campaign trail. Now he’s back-tracking on making it free because of a lobbying push by the religious right but he announced policies to significantly lower the cost of the procedure (by like 80%h + help make it easier for employers to cover it as part of the insurance policies they offer employees.

The fact that Jones' texts were known to Republicans well before October 2025 - but not made into a campaign issue until after early voting started - makes me question the integrity of the Republican party in Virginia. No more opp-research shenanigans.

That's where I am. I've volunteered to drive voters (of any political affiliation) to the polls on Nov. 4. If you are eligible to vote and have faith in our democratic system of governing, please vote. We do not have to agree on candidates but please vote. In these times, it is easy to be discouraged and believe the fascists have destroyed our democracy. But they have not dismantled democracy. Yet. There is hope. Vote. Your vote matters.

You criticize Youngkin for “selling his soul,” yet you’re fine with the massive donations Spanberger has accepted to push for the Tysons casino? She also supports government overreach into our schools and limiting parents’ rights in their children’s education.

Your defense of Jones’ vile texts shows a complete lack of moral integrity. Let’s not pretend Democrats haven’t sat on damaging information until the final stretch of an election—spare me the outrage. He joked about the killing of children.

And regarding your “fascist” comment, I suggest you read a few history books before using that term so loosely. Also, if you’re voting straight down the Democratic ticket, let’s be honest—you’re not an independent.

Going to need some stats to back any of that up. Go ahead, I’m waiting.

Voucher schools perform better because they can pick their students. Poor kids, English learners, and disabled kids need not apply.

Lol. The Heritage Society and Trump’s Catholic cabal is against IVF because it’s abortion and allows gay people to reproduce outside of a proper “submissive woman barefoot in kitchen” scenario. You’ll never see it. Sorry if you voted for him based on that, maybe your gullibility and lack of intelligence is why nature is not letting you breed in the wild.

You can educate your kids in whatever religious BS you want, you just have to pay for it. Do you understand? Religious education is not education but indoctrination. It adds nothing to society. It is sending us back to the Dark Ages like it did before. As a taxpayer, I don’t want to pay for something that is destroying our society by propagating ignorance, stupidity, and superstitious behavior.

Pay.For.Your.Cult.Crap.Yourself. And while you’re at it, how about you help support some of these disabled kids you insist be born but don’t want anywhere near your parochial school?

when spanberger said she was going ot let the schools decide genders by comitte that was enough for me to know where her mind is in terms of liberal policies embedded in public schools, if she says this before being elected its only going to get more extreme if elected in, she needs to be stopped:
When asked if she supports transgender women playing in girls' sports and using girls' restrooms, Spanberger said, "So in Virginia, until very recently we have had a process in place where on an individual, one by one basis, schools, principals, parents, coaches were making decisions based on fairness, competitiveness and safety, where a child might be able or might not be able to play in a particular sport."

Oh boy, here comes the kiddie genital police. Can’t stop beating that dead horse.

When are you going to admit that you perverts are just scared the hot young things you’re going to try to groom at the local HS have the wrong parts? I know grooming teenagers takes a lot of time and effort and the payoff is not guaranteed, but if you’re looking for breedstock, you have plenty of serviceable mares at church. You can leave the kids alone. Please leave the kids alone.

I never mentioned “religious education.” My goal is simply to give my child the opportunity to attend a private school that is better equipped to address his learning differences, since the public school has failed to meet his needs. Unfortunately, Virginia makes private placement extremely difficult, even when it’s clearly in the best interest of the child. Without school choice, I cannot afford the local private school that specializes in his areas of need. To be clear, this is a school designed specifically for children with special needs.

That said, parents should have the right to raise their children according to their own beliefs. What is taught in schools can also amount to a form of indoctrination. As taxpayers, we are all funding what children are taught—some may agree with that content, but not everyone does, and parents deserve a voice in those decisions.

Finally, I should add that your response to my original post reflects bias and hostility, which only underscores why open, respectful dialogue on these issues is so important.
