What are the CCL rules about attending practices at other clubs?

Anonymous
We want to look at other clubs for next year. Someone said if a player is currently with a CCL club you can not practice(or contact) with another CCL club. Is that right?

I thought it was just the other way around.

Coaches cannot contact a player. The player needs to reach out to them.

No big deal. Practicing shouldn't be an issue unless the club themselves are actively recruiting you. I think the issue is that you can't sign up or play with that team for the current year but you are free to sign up with them the following year.

Ignore their rules. They don't own your kid.

They cannot contact you but you are free to contact them. You cannot transfer to that team during the season but you can practice and guest with them.

Ignore the rules at your own peril. Two boys on my son's CCL team accepted offers with us then jumped to another CCL club. One had to pay his club fees to us to get his travel pass released and both are suspended from playing in CCL games for one year. The coach who left his CCL club mid season to take over as TD for SYC got SYC into CCL but the entire club is banned from the Premiership division for one year. That said, CCL has lost its luster. McLean and Potomac quit the Premiership division because it's not that competitive. Larger clubs with several teams in each age group, like Loudoun and Arlington, put their top teams in other leagues like ECNL and EDP.

Another reason to avoid this league. The sooner it folds, the better.

This league has outlived it's purpose. Although it is better than NCSL.

McLean did not choose to leave. They were kicked out. As was BRYC. CCL kicked a bunch of good teams out and now is crumbling. Good job CCL

That is within the same year and still arguable and is really more about the deposit than anything. When a club does that and in a State Cup year just stay with them through the time rosters for State Cup lock then walk. They can't change the roster at that point. Go to the other club and roster on the non-CCL team for the duration while practicing with the team you will join.

Your post is not factual.

McLean and BRYC put their 'A' teams in ECNL. McLean's 'B' teams still play in CCL2. Neither was 'kicked out'.

Not sure about Potomac, but as posted above McLean placed their 'A' team in ECNL, their 'B' team still plays CCL2.

Loudoun A - ECNL
Loudoun B - CCL
Loudoun C - CCL2

Arlington A - DA
Arlington B - CCL
Arlington C - CCL2

All of McLeans pre-ECNL teams were kicked out fool. They have to play in crappy NCSL.
