What are the CCL rules about attending practices at other clubs?

It sucks in McLean now. Trust me.

On the CCL question, the clubs don't care and don't enforce that rule. Talk to any coach. All scare tactics. Feel free to.practice all you want.

Why? You are saying that a dying league is better than NCSL?

My DS plays in the top Division of NCSL and it is a decent fit for him, but let's be honest, it is filled with B and C teams. In VA at least the top non-DA teams play in CCL and VPL.

You don't understand CCL. CCL is a clubcentric league. When McLean opted to put their U13 and up 'A' teams in ECNL, they also had to move their U12 and under 'A' teams to another league. They were not kicked out, they opted to move their 'A' teams out. Their 'B' teams still play CCL2.

It's a shame that name calling and spreading disinformation has become the norm in today's society.

Not the PP. The explanation makes complete sense. However, Mclean has had ECNL for many many years now. They had ECNL and were also in CCL 3-4 years ago and most recently moved out of CCL. Is this maybe a new CCL policy pushed onto these clubs?

CCL is a clubcentric league, meaning that when one club plays another club all of the age groups participate on the same day at the same location. The thinking is that this allows the TD and other club staff to attend and watch all of their teams play to allow for player and coach evaluations.

McLean used to have their A teams in CCL1 and their B teams in CCL2. When they played Arlington for example, all of their age groups would play Arlington's teams. When McLean moved their U13 and above A teams to ECNL, this would not allow the clubcentric model to work. If McLean's U9-U12 teams played Arlington, then Arlington's U13-U19 teams would all have a bye and receive a forfeit. That is why McLean needed to move their U12 and younger teams to another league.

I believe that the movement out of CCL1 was concurrent across the age groups, but not necessarily by gender. The boys are in their 2nd year in ECNL, while the girls teams have been in ECNL longer.

Arlingtons u12 girls second team is out of the CCL2 as of this spring. Looking for better competition and games. I have heard other age groups have or will follow. CCL2 u12 and under just does not have enough teams to play a full schedule. I wonder if arlington’s first team will stay now that the clubcentric model is breaking down for the club. I know there was a lot of talk about lack of competitive CCL games hurting the team/club in tournaments. If Arlington pulls out will Loudoun follow?

That makes complete sense. The U11 Arlington white team on the boys side is probably as good as the red team and cannot get a good game in ccl2. We are in CCL but have played in NCSL as well. It has been about the same. Very uneven for a top team. Of course, it becomes even more uneven when clubs leave the league, but I can understand why individual teams might. I think free agency is a pretty good idea for clubs, teams and players. Or a single league with relegation.

McLean was in ECNL for as long as there was ECNL. They were also simultaneously in CCL until two years ago.

It is you who doesn’t understand.

Can you explain why Loudoun still have their A teams in CCL at the younger ages? Also Arlington? They both move their A teams to ECNL and DA once they hit the U13 age group. McLean and BRYC were kicked out and Loudoun and Arlington were allowed to stay.

I may have missed something in the CCL rules but I didn’t see anything that states the teams that play must be the “top” team but rather they should be competitive and possibly show proof of that being the case. If CCL chased off every club with DA or ECNL then they would lose some competitive teams

Why didn't Mclean choose to play in the EDP like Gunston and Barca? It's generally more competitive than CCL, NCSL, or VPL.

I know the Arlington Boys top u112 team play the EDP. If Arlington keeps a top team in the CCL under u12 it because they feel the team is weak. After u12 the big clubs move their top teams to other league.

All of their top teams under U12 are in ccl. I think you mean over U12.

McLean and BRYC were not kicked out! If they did not decide to move to ECNL, they would still be in CCL. It was their choice to leave. BRYC doesn't support a B team. McLean's B teams weren't competitive enough to move to CCL1.

Why can Loudoun and Arlington still maintain CCL1 and CCL2 teams:
- Loudoun County population - 400,000
- Arlington County population - 250,000
- McLean population - 50,000
