What’s the overall opinion?
We aren’t Jewish but like the name Eidel. Obviously many non-Jewish people name their children Hannah, Rebecca, Elijah and Ezra but what about names like Adira? Shoshannah? |
Any Old Testament names. |
I would assume the family was Evangelical. |
I kind of liked Yael and Orly, but would have felt weird using the them as a Gentile. |
I wouldn’t have known that was a Hebrew name. |
I'm a jew and I think that's weird. |
I think Aviva and Shoshanna might be near the crossover point, where it wouldn't be that weird to use them. It would be weird to use Eidel.
|
Technically "Ethan" is an Old Testament name same with a bunch of old school ones Asian immigrants choose. I say, whatever. Old testament is Christian too. |
Yael (pronounced Yale) is one of my favorite names. We aren’t Jewish snd I’m still going to use it. |
Find an English version of the names. Ex: Matityahu becomes Matthew. |
Eidel could be Adele |
Beautiful name with this pronunciation only. |
Pronounced as "Ya- ale" - not Yale. No one will say "Yale." |
Aidel isn't Hebrew, it's Yiddish. I would find it very odd to use a Yiddish name on a non-Jewish person. Aidel is basically used only by Orthodox people. Ultra-Orthodox, in fact. It's in the same category as Faiga, Raizel, Genendel, Fruma, etc.
Go with Adele or Adelaide or something. |
YUP! If you want Yale them name your kid Yalle/Yale not Y'ael. |
