And, please DCUM, try avoid your obsession with one upmanship. This is not a competition. I just want to hear from parents who, in retrospect, think their kids made the right choice for themselves.

| (Don't hate me DCUM) but my very liberal daughter LOVED Washington and Lee. We were all shocked. |
| How is this useful. All kids are different and enjoy different things. Also have different future goals and objectives. |
What’s to hate? It’s a great education. And it never hurts kids to be around different types of people. My liberal SLAC kid is applying now and would be looking at W&L if Greek life was not so prevalent. He wants a non-Greek campus. It’s like saying a moderate conservative kid shouldn’t go to Oberlin. I hope they do. Different viewpoints are great for class discussions. Glad to hear it went so well! |
I find it useful. If you don’t, don’t read the thread. — not OP |

Great post and congrats prior poster. Great school. |
DP but my kid is at W&L now. I think this post is super useful - because lots of DCUM says w&l is omgsogreek and omgsoconservative and my kid isn't conservative, randomly decided to join a fraternity (He's super nerdy and found his tribe, and it's adorable. They're really just like brothers" |

| Both my kids have LOVED their college experiences. One went to Yale and the other to Rice. Finding a good fit was very important to our family, as I went to another Ivy and had a miserable time. I think Rice would have been great for me. |
Yale and Rice jeez you win! Seriously, that’s awesome. My daughter is all about Rice and will put her name in that lottery next year. |

I think this could be helpful info, but with a little context such as
"My outgoing athlete was super happy at Large State University" or "My shy humanities major thrived at Small LAC" rather than just "My kid loved XYZ College" The W&L post is a good example. |
| My friend's son is loving Denison. He plays a sport he enjoys but wouldn't have been able to play at a larger school. He's a well-rounded, smart, kind young man who is curious about the world and still figuring out what he wants to do, so it's not like he was choosing colleges with a clear major in mind. It's been a good fit for him and he's honing in on ways to combine his interests into a major. |
| UIUC. My DD is now at a small private for grad school but, she still misses her undergrad. Loved the large school with its unending opportunities. Loved how much she could pile on the work and drown in whatever research interested her. Loved the support of her colleagues. Loved the Midwest friendliness. Loved the coffee shops in every nook and cranny, all with their distinctive personalities. Sometimes a big research U is the right choice. |
