Magnet applications and DCC choice forms

I don't think universal testing was ever stated as being part of the high school application. The focus has been on simplifying the information and application process, but not on universal screening as done in the elementary and middle school programs.

They will be doing universal *screening* of this year's 8th graders. After which they'll receive a document outlining any special HS programs in which they're likely to succeed. If they then choose to apply to a test-in program, they will take the Dec. 7th test.

Is the application on the parent portal or the student portal? I think it may be on the portal that only students have access to.

Not true. Agreed that the application will be unique to the kid..but it is based on the home school/region. There is NO universal screening for high school. Students can apply to various home school programs along with choice based (lottery) and application based (test). Students applying for magnet will have test on Dec 7th. The application along with test results, teacher recs, MAP, PARCC, course selection and pathway, awards etc are considered as part of selection process.

This is on the MCPS website now: *Due to the volume of uploading individualized reports, reports will be available for first time viewing beginning on the evening of October 4, 2019 and October 7, 2019

I can’t figure out where the reports will be on the portal. MCPS says under documents or under High school. I see the documents tab. It has MAP results in it currently. I do not see a high school tab.

I can see a High School Programs option toward the bottom of the menu, but it currently just links back to the MCPS web site.

The Blair / Poolsville HS meeting is on Monday. So we wouldn't know until that time if the universal screening recommends students if they are eligible to apply to magnet?
