What should I do?

Anonymous
I'm a federal government employee in DC (just some minion, not high profile job though), I have a friend overstay her visa. She asked me if she can stay at my place for sometime because she was worried about being found by ICE. I agreed thinking she might move out after she can find a place. It's been a while, she didn't show sign of moving out, and she suddenly said "I love you" yesterday. I'm flattered, but then I wasn't sure about her intention, and because I work for government, I'm also worried about my job. Any thoughts?

She wants to marry you to stay in the country?

Say no, and do it fast.

Honest advice: 1. get her out of your place immediately 2. Start looking for a new job

I don't know if she want to marry me to stay here or if she truly liked me. I had a girl friend when she first moved in, but she broke up with me after this friend moved in for a few days. So I'm single now, and I'm looking.

Because it will affect my job or because you think she was using me?

Using you

Do you even like her?

If yes, then why not?

Are people really this stupid? I worry for our government if these are the people employed there.

No need to insult me, if you have a friend as for a little help, would you say no? I didn't think that much then. Now it seems complicated, so I don't know what should I do...

It's too sudden, I didn't think about it before...so I don't know...

I am PP you responded to. Because she is using you to stay in the country. You should text her right now- it won't work out, sorry.

Guy here, and I agree. This is her ticket to stay and marriage for that purpose is beyond the obligation of friendship. I had a female friend who fell for that and married a guy, only to see his true stripes after he was safe from deportation threat (and they have since been divorced).

Just marry her, that's what a real friend would do.

I’m guessing you don’t have a clearance to protect but regardless, she could turn into a nightmare if you stop helping her. Is there a chance you could lose your job because of her?

Have you been sleeping with her?
